Thanks for this "reminder" SickThings!SickThings wrote:As a reminder, here's the American Idol performance with Alice and Orianthi.

I didn't know this performance, in fact I didn't know where Orianthi emerged from… (in France we have our owm "idols" but not very aware of other countries'). I heard about her when she was revealed as guitar player for MJ's This Is It!.
Oh, nice performance!James1981 wrote:Hope this is true shes a great player. Take a look at this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcDl5iur ... re=related
I hope she will quickly find her place in AC's live band and will bring her own touch to the sound (and a killer look!).
I also hope I will see her performing on European tour!

Here is the press release announcing Orianthi as Damon's replacement.
Naturally, she'll be in the band for the Leno appearance....

Personally I think she´s a very good guitar player and an excellent choice for Alice´s current band.
Along with Ryan Roxie and Keri Kelli, I think she´s the coolest guitar player that Alice has had for a long time.
I must admit however, I miss the golden years of the ACG when the Alice Cooper band actually looked dangerous!
IMO there will never be anyone who can fill Glen Buxton´s shoes when it comes to charisma and straight rock´n´roll attitude. Glen Buxton lived, drank, smoked and breathed rock´n´roll!
I totally agree with you.
I found myself wondering what glen would have thought of this!!!

Re: Orianthi as new guitarist
I think that attitude is impossible to hold for all those years.
The young and wild attitude disappears after so many years.
Name me a band who still is crazy and wild as in their early days?? Even Iggy Pop is a performer(still crazy!!).
The Stones are older than most of our granddads.
The Who is decimated and one is almost deaf.
The longer in showbizz the more likely they became performers.
Or they died.

I'm curious as to if she'll stick around long enough to eventually record with Alice. She's an amazing guitarist!

I can name only one, Mötley Crüe. But they aren't normal, those guys are really sick!
These good little shocks must be working I’m so happy now

Really??
Does Axl Rose look like a guy you´d wanna mess with?
Or Keith Richards for that matter?
Glen Buxton had that rock´n´roll attitude until the day he died. That´s because he wasn´t a "performer".
He was a natural born ROCK STAR.

Re: Orianthi as new guitarist
Dimma, did you met the original band, like in the seventies? The song, Mr. and Misdemeanor, that was about Glen, I think?
Re: Orianthi as new guitarist
Hi In Chick!
I was only 6 years old and living in Iceland when the original band broke up so I never got to see them live at the height of their career.
I got seriously into Alice Cooper in the early 80´s and was immediately drawn to the original band as not only were they the coolest and most dangerous looking band I had ever known but their music really spoke to me.
It wasn´t until the mid to late nineties that I actually met the guys and we became good friends and musical partners.
Unfortunately I never got to meet my hero GB but I am good friends with his family, who are the nicest people and have always been great to me.
I got to see the four surviving ACG members play together for the first time at the Glen Buxton Memorial Weekend at Cooper´sTown in Phoenix, AZ in October 1999.
The song title "Mr and Misdemeanor" came from a notebook were the bandmembers had penned a list of titles that were all about wordplay. I saw the actual sheet of paper some 10 years ago but don´t remember much of the other titles.
I don´t think it was written about Glen though.

Thanks Dimma, very cool!
Re: Orianthi as new guitarist
And I still think that even Glen Buxton after more than 40 years appr. 1968-2012 had lost his wild feathersDIMMA wrote:mestreech wrote: "I think that attitude is impossible to hold for all those years."

Even without being in a band Axl Rose is still a psycho. And Keith Richards? please, take a look at him. He was the rebel for a very very long time but that ended a long time ago

I think it was Janice who said that there was s
some kind of reference in the title of that song.

Re: Orianthi as new guitarist
Have you noticed that all players that Alice hires seem to be very level-headed, friendly and down to earth? His players have actually been surprisingly nice and friendly. I don't remember anyone of them coming across as an egomaniac or anything like that in interviews. Just an observation!
Re: Orianthi as new guitarist
Just like Alice is after the show. Friendly and just a normal person. The son of Don Quijote wrote:Have you noticed that all players that Alice hires seem to be very level-headed, friendly and down to earth? I think that's the main reason he is still doing showbizz.
