Re: strictly come dancing
Poison isn't my favourite live song, it never really sounds quite good enough live to me. I guess the original had so many layers of vocals it makes it hard to replicate.

Re: strictly come dancing
I don't think the song has had proper justice live in several years personally. Kind of done as a straight rock n' roll song and Alice sings the harmony part! Probably really the only song I have a complaint about arrangement wise in the set.

Re: strictly come dancing
At the moment, Alice is featured on homepage of www.bbc.co.uk ahead of the strictly performance. An article about the weekend strictly halloween shows are here too:

Nothing exactly new news, but thought it worth mentioning.

Re: strictly come dancing
The only excellent live version of Poison I know is from Trashes the world tour. It just sounds anemic now when it doesn't have ten background singers or something. I think many Alice Cooper songs especially the likes I'm Eighteen, Guilty and No more mr. Nice Guy sound even better in a raw and energetic live form and many songs I'm not crazy about (in their studio versions) are good live. Poison however is a big exception. It is nowadays a low point of his otherwise excellent live shows.

I really hope he sings you and me, and in my dreamworld, the nation would take this to their hearts and it would be xmas no1.
i am a man who is forced to watch strictly by "my lovely wife" (as are many of you on ere) joking aside if he did revive an old ballard it could be big with this show as a springboard to melting womens heart's
i cannot wait

It was the request of the makers of the show.

It was OK, it was nice that the band were there also and not the usual studio musicians.

Re: strictly come dancing
Excellent performance from Alice and great song choice. I think there was 'help' in the chorus though. I think X-Factor missed out on the guest of the week - especially with it being Halloween.
Re: strictly come dancing
re help with chorus, I am sure there were plenty of backing singers to do sing a long a alice..

Re: strictly come dancing
That was actually really cool I thought.
Sounds like the band also had some "help" as well. This version was too close to the studio version (even if it wasn't the studio version) for it to be performed by his current band. Seemed like the big tip off was the opening riff in which Keri's hands aren't even on the guitar for about a second while the riff played away, plus you didn't hear his Wah-Wah pedal that he's love with these days.
Having said that, great performance from Alice even if he still sang the harmony part on the chorus!

That is correct.
That is correct.
Re: strictly come dancing
The chorus sounded very full for a guitar, bass, drums line-up. If it was totally raw and totally live it was very well executed indeed - better than other live versions I have heard. Backing vocals were in tune and the guitars seems particularly filled out - maybe it was just good technical hardware that they have.
