Alicesmith?

Post by Dannorama » Sat Nov 07, 2009 11:47 am

Looks like they are getting ready to kick Steven Tyler out of Aerosmith. The band has made it known that if they could find the right guy to take his place, they'd like to continue on.

Naturally, Alice comes to mind right away. There's history there. Yes, it's quite a long shot, but still... Could it work?

Actually, according to Joe Perry, Steven quit.

Not IMO. Each band has a definate image and a hard core fan base that might not respond kindly with tinkering with the formula. Aerosmith took some major flak when they replaced Joe Perry and Brad back in the day and I thought that the album they released without those two was damn good. IMO replacing a vocalist in a successfull band is a lot harder than replacing a guitarist / bassist/drummer. Geeze, every time someone mentions Van Halen it always turns to which VH, DLR or Sammy ? And it's Eddie that rewrote the history books on guitar playing. Bad idea IMO.

Tyler simply needs to clean up and stop drinking once and for all. Sadly, he does not have Coop's will power and is willing to throw his life away.

Interesting stream this..I don't think it would work fully as I don't think Alice has same vocal range as ST..can't imagine him singing Dream On live...I like Alice and ST but can't see Alice stepping in to those shoes for performance of Aero back catalogue..Alice brilliant at what he does though.

I agree, can't see him doing a full set of someone else's songs, nor would I want to.
...And personally, I don't care.

He doesn't have the same range, he's said so himself. I think it was perhaps on NWAC right before he played "Only My Heart Talkin'" where he said that during the recording session he was singing at the top of his range, and ST was nearly an octave higher it seemed.

I'd like to see Joe Perry play with Alice, maybe some of the songs they wrote together that have never been realeased...But saying that I wouldn't be willing to give up Keri or Damon for a place for Joe.
Joe Perry is (in my opinion) one of the worlds great guitar players and a nice guy..Keri and Damon are also great players but have a much better personality. More down to earth and very fan focused. I'm not willing to give that up!

I have noticed that Steven Tyler has gone down hill ever since the split with his wife. He has had a rough few years with his mom passing away his ego getting kicked by his ex wife ect.

Dating a girl half your age, who is so obviously into the "rock and roll" lifestyle can't really be healthy to a recovering addict. I think he's been living on the edge far tooo long..
I hope he gets the help he needs.

NO!! I think its a horrible idea!

Brings to mind the last Queen offerring with Paul Rodgers standing in for Dead Fred - just awful. :/

The least said about Queen and Paul Rodgers the better, truly disastrous.

Thats women for yer, can`t live with em, and yer can`t kill em.

Alice with the `Smiths, never. I don`t think he could pull it off even if he wanted to.
Joe with Alice ? nar, it would mean someone getting the sack and Alice has too much class to do that.

A side project could work though.

Yeah, I hope Tyler gets on the mend soon.

Some songs to ponder...
Caught In A Dream On
Adam's Apple Bush
You Look Good In Ragdoll
If I may put forward a slice of personal colostomy...

::((: No....I dont think so.
Im sure Joe playing for Alice would be fine. They have spent time together. But only if they were doing ALICE songs. It would seam almost like Slash or just some guest playing.

However...Alice doing Steven songs....I just dont want to hear it.
I just love Damon,Keri and Chuck together and wouldnt want to change that for anything.

Tyler performed with the Joe Perry Project last night (?) and declared that he was not quitting Aerosmith. Video footage available here.

Alice replace Steve??? Don't be ridiculous! First of all, it is akin to asking Iggy Pop to 'sing Freddie Mercury' and secondly; their images are worlds apart! ::((:

However, Joe Perry co-writing some songs with Alice, or resuming that co-writing project of 83/84, now that's a different matter!!!!!!

Thanks for the link. Seems like Mr. Tyler hath smelled the coffee. Let hope.

As for Alice and them? Independent market research indicates that fans don't like the idea.
