Alice Cooper tribute bike "The Coop" The story.

Post by Luney Tune » Tue Jul 07, 2009 6:57 pm

I guess some of you remember my Alice Cooper tribute bike which was a thread in the forum last year.

Last year I went to Norway Rock festival where Alice was headlining in order to get the bike signed by Alice himself. But all that can go wrong went wrong and it didn`t happen.I was so dissapointed, it was not Alice`s fault, rather bad communication between some people who promised me too much and couldn`t keep it.

And on top of that the day after the concert i was asked by one of the pronotors if i would drive Alice to Stavanger Airport. Of course i would !!! I couldn`t believe I was even asked. But i had to hurry. But what happened ?? My bike wouldnt start. As this is an old school chopper i have no electrical start, only a kick. After 3-5 min it started and i headed for the hotel. 500 metres from the hotel i met the limo with Alice in it. I was too late. What an opportunity it was. I was devasted, first in heaven then in hell. I had to sit down for an hour to collect myself before I started on the 350 km trip home.

Well, new chanches this year I thoght when he was top of the bill at Skaanevik Blues festival. It was a 410 km drive one way. I put the bike in a borrowed van and my son and I headed across the norwegian mountains to Norways west coast. At 0500 hours in the morning.

We had heard he stayed in Haugesund and we picked out the only hotel we thought he could stay in.
Also we had heard he should play golf that day.
We arrived at the hotel 1300 hours and sat down to wait for Alice. At this stage we didn`t know if it was the right hotel.

But after two hours he came in a car. My pulse went up. He came out of the car with his golf bag and walked towards the main entrance. I approached him and showed him some pictures of the bike.

He was very interested and really thanked me for making the bike. He laughed and said "look at Ryan guys " when he saw that one the pictures was with Ryan Roxie which i met last year in my hoemtown. He then told me to wait for ten minutes and would be down to look at the bike. Chuck garric who was with him had seen it last year and said he had taken a picture of it with his daughter. He thought it was a great bike.

Alice came down again. He was very casual. And what a nice guy !!!! He took his time to study the bike and look at the details and complemented the work i had done. What a moment it was !!! My hero for 35 years, fantastic !!!. Calico his daughter also joined the conversation after a while. I also told him that my all time Alice favorite song was "Luney Tune" which he liked and he told me that it actually would be in his live set for next years tour. We talked for about ten minutes and what was great was that it was only me and Alice( and Calico ), not a crowd. And it was casual relaxed Alice i talked too.

This was besides my kids and being married to my wife the greatest moment in my life and i don`t think nothing will ever top it. I can`t explain how much i appreciate this.I had met Alice briefly in 2005, but this time it was very different.

Not to forget, my son took about 250 photos during this.
He is also of course is a AC fan. I`ll post a link to the photos in a while.

Many thanks for reading. I just had to share this with you.

Always remember The Coop
It`s all in this luney tune....

Great story! I do remember that other thread too.

And that comment about "Luney Tune" being in the set has made me excited.

I remember the bike thread you started too LT; and I am also looking forward to seeing your pics.

Great news about Luney Tune in the set - gotta love the way Alice is able to just casually drop little bombshells like that into a conversation!

A truly unforgettable experience.

Thats wonderful LT.

Did he sign the bike for you? (You didn't say). And if he did, how will you preserve his monika?

Stories like that are why I come here. Well done, Luney Tune! Guaranteed that this will be a memorable one for Alice as well.

I remember your bike well from last year's posts.

Anxious for the pictures.....
