Tour 2018!

Post by Sparticus » Wed Jan 24, 2018 6:12 pm

Quickly approaching... I’m excited to do my first VIP this time around. Let’s talk setlists! I was stoked to see two of my wishes come true last year (World Needs Guts and Escape) and thought they both fit great. Hoping a few tunes get a break and we get a couple back. Here’s what I would love to see this time around.

1. Paranormal Intro (curtain)
2. Freedom
3. 18
4. Be My Lover (snake)
5. Fireball
6. No More Mr. Nice Guy
7. Desperado (harmonica)
8. Wind Up Toy (Sheryl)
9. Dead Babies
10. Steven
11. Ballad of Dwight Fry (jacket)
12. Execution/I Love the Dead/Black Widow instrumental
13. Feed My Frankenstein (FrankenAlice)
14. Billion Dollar Babies (sword)
15. Serious
16. Poison
17. Caught in a Dream
18. Escape
————

19. Under My Wheels
20. School’s Out
If you call that guilty...then that's what I am

Padre, like your selection very much , but half of the audience would not know which show they are attending ( and Alice would have to memorize a lot of lyrics again :alice: )
but, very good selection !
you really wouldn't understand..

He could use a teleprompter. It's always fun to do these fantasy lists.

He doesn't use it much/at all, but there has been a teleprompter on stage for years.

I love Alice, but I'm sorry, that is a horrible setlist. Yes, I understand he's not going to be playing 2 hour plus 30+ song shows when he's in his 70's, and that there are songs that he HAS to do (SO, NMMNG, B$B, 18, etc...) but what is the fascination with songs like LOST IN AMERICA and WOMAN OF MASS DISTRACTION? These songs weren't even hits and in my opinion, they are totally replaceable with either other hit songs that aren't played often (Muscle of Love) or other deep cuts, or, even, NEW SONGS from the NEW ALBUM. Same staging with the same theatrics. Hopefully this big tour they talked about to Billboard for 2019 includes the members of the original band, because this current ship is as stale as the FrankenAlice. It's practically been the same show and stage for over half a decade

VinceLeeRose, The setlist isn't horrible as you make it, I saw him last year in Mansfield w/ Deep Purple and it was a really really basic setlist. At least this year we get 3 additions Serious, Fallen in love, Be My lover. An I highly doubt that the original ACG band members are going to join in on the new stage show in 2019 and yes it's has been a long time since new theatrics has been changed since I think about 2010 Theatre Of Death Tour, dying 4 times, the giant needle, the giant thing that crushed him and he was in between it. But to me seeing Alice is always a great time n adventure, never gets stale for me. An yes lost in America and woman of mass distraction were actually big hits. An tonight's show was at least 2 hrs ,you'd really be complaining if you saw the 60 minutes set i saw last year when he played with Deep Purple. Just be grateful Alice is still touring n making great albums for us fans. An Alice always adds rarities each year that weren't played the previous year and as far as new songs go off paranormal it's only the first show, give him time I'm sure he'll add 1 or 2 more new songs from Paranormal.

I've seen Alice almost 40 times and never miss a show and always have a fun time, but this is just an uninspired set, especially when he just released such a great album like Paranormal. If Lost in America and Woman of Mass Distraction were dropped in favor of 2 new songs from Paranormal (like maybe the single that was literally just released a week ago....!!?!?) i'd think it would be a lot better. I respect your opinion but Mass Distraction and Lost in America weren't hits (at least in the US).

I saw the show with Deep Purple. It was fine for a 70s package tour with a shortened set time. Greatest hits summer shed show on a package tour with 2 other acts from that era. it did it's job. Hell, I thought it was even great he still left in some of the harder tunes like BP and Paranoiac Personality.... But for a headlining set, Id hope for more variety than the same old same old. "oh here comes FrankenAlice, AGAIN, heres Woman of Mass Distraction to show off Nita, AGAIN...Here comes the ballerina and the straight jacket, then the guillotine...."

I'm happy to see Alice whatever they play, but they should really change the set.

I saw woman of mass distraction in glasgow. I don't particularly like the song and think it is one of the weakest on DD! But it was better live, but I couldn't help thinking why? It wasn't a hit, there are far better songs in the back catalogue, there are bigger fan favourites or better yet he could have played a song off the new album! As I've said in a different thread, I can't wait to see the Hollywood vampires in the summer for something very different!

Just my two cents on the setlist. One, I am always happen when something off The Last Temptation is played. That is such a brilliant album and I think Lost in America adds a lot to the set as a very uptempo number (though I recalled during the Dragontown tour, Fantasy Man had the same effect). That being said I would love to hear more from The Last Temptation at some point.

I like that Alice is playing some more modern stuff like Brutal Planet still. However, I do think there are stronger songs from the Eyes of Alice Cooper, Dirty Diamonds, ACAS, and W2MN era(s) that people would like to hear.

Serious is a great addition. I am surprised to see that one because it was tried several years ago and dropped quickly because someone said due to the speed of the song it stripped Alice's voice live. I hope it stays.

As far as the setlist goes, it is possible 1 or 2 more songs may be added. Some venues such as Casinos have time limits on how long someone can perform, so I don't know if that was the case here or not.

I was hoping that Roses on White Lace was going to make the setlist since the band has said it has been rehearsed and Alice had talked about it some last year (though it never made the setlist)

Even just a few MINOR alterations to the set would make it a much better show

What was the length of the show? That setlist seems shorter than years past. So if the songs are being shortened up then it leaves little wiggle room for surprises.

I can see a common theme lyrically & musically that runs through "Fallen In Love", "Woman of Mass Distraction" and "Poison" so perhaps that explains the addition of "Woman of Mass Distraction".
