Tour 2016---Thoughts???

Post by AlongCameASpider27 » Wed Jan 06, 2016 4:43 pm

I know there is talk of a new album from the article that Tommy was in...but does anyone think we are going to be get a new tour this year or will it continue to be the Raise the Dead tour again?

It's no secret I thought covers/RTD were a bad idea from the very first RTD show. My opinion hasn`t changed. It's not the performances that are the issue, it's the fact that by doing covers Alice is basically sacrificing his own better songs to include them. If I wanted to see those songs I could go see a covers band in a pub. I go to see AC to see AC songs performed.
Keep the covers for fun things like club shows/charity shows, when they are fun.

Personally. Liked the rtd section as it at least shook up a set that had become stale. I thought it was energetic and fun. I think it has run its course and would love to see a revamped show but think it's going to be more small scale shows if there are any new shows. I would love a final large tour but doubt it will happen.

While I somewhat agree with Si, I kind of don't. For me, it was cool to see Alice perform those cover songs, if only to see him pay "live" homage to the bands & performers he has always referred to in interviews and such as influences. And as dadascot said above, I think it shook up the set a little bit.
If I may put forward a slice of personal colostomy...

the set may have become stale, but replacing stuff w/ covers instead of choice cuts from his own 20+ albums was a total misfire for me.

I agree with that. I would much prefer he use that section to play a couple of more rare tunes. A lot of fans have been begging for him to do a song off Raise Your Fist and Yell or more from The Last Temptation for example. It would also be cool maybe to hear a melody of three or four songs from the early 80's albums.

I am one of those fans who would LOVE to see either Freedom or the "Trilogy" from RYFAY done live....it would be a major mark out moment for me!!!

Good news, guys. Alice just tweeted that he's working on a new show and asked what we wanted to hear. Make your requests!! All I'm seeing so far are requests for songs that we've seen recently..
If you call that guilty...then that's what I am

Same as last time, when they asked for people to suggest rare tracks they wanted to hear (with a real chance, if small, that they might have been put in the new set). The top votes were for Poison, School's Out and "beer".
Gotta love facebook fans....

putting this "requests from the fans" type thing is just generally BS. as Si says, you just get people requesting the same set list, or the artist says they do. i'd be willing t be there's nothing dramatically different, though i hope there is. been years of same-old same-old, i'd love to see Alice shake things up radically at least just once before retirement.

To be fair neither this poll or the last one were BS as such. They genuinely were interested to see what people would request. Unfortunately the majority of the people on Facebook/Twitter haven`t a clue about anything beyond the hits that will always be played, and don`t care as likely won`t be going to a show anyway.

That doesn`t mean it can`t serve a purpose as obviously requests for things like Poison and SO will be ignored, leaving some suggestions to work with.
