He's Back for the European shows

Post by AlongCameASpider27 » Tue Aug 06, 2013 12:18 pm

I noticed that Devil's Food was dropped and He's Back has been returned to the setlist...is this due to a snake related issue since he has been using a snake during Devil's Food? I attended two of the USA shows back in July and wished this song was in there...any chance we will see it back in the set this fall, especially during the Halloween show in Alabama?

Yep, saw Alice yesterday night and He's Back is...back :)
which means we didn't get to see the snake...
Strong voiced Alice again and the raise-the-dead section was received well imo.
for one reason or another I found that Hey Stoopid doesn't get as much attention as I would have expected, but I could be wrong.
The congregation has been dropped.

He's Back was put into the set again for Europe because it gets more of a reaction in Europe. It was sort of laying flat on the US dates, so we dropped it. The snake was used on one of the German dates I believe (could be wrong, the have all ran together at this point), we used it during Welcome To My Nightmare, and Man Behind The Mask was in the set. Also, we should be using a snake tomorrow at Cropredy thanks to our old friend Bill Crowe, again on Welcome To My Nightmare. Actually it's a great spot for the snake in the set.

Thanks Kyler...even if it "fell flat" in the USA...with it being a horror movie theme, is there a chance as a surprise it might get brought in for the Halloween night show? I mean I know that night, anything can happen in an Alice show so I guess I would want to be surprised none the less...

more pictures at the above copied link.
Alice got 3 stars in this review but I guess the author was more a deep purple fan (4 stars )
not really comparable : DP being more of a static performance, and I must say that Alice's voice has lost little of its strenght compared to that of Ian Gillan (of course asking a lot more of his voice trying to reach the higher notes..)

I've always wanted to see Alice play it live. I wish you would have toured around here when he was still playing it. I'm surprised some thought it wasn't getting a good enough reaction because I've read a lot of reviews where people say it was a major highlight of the show and the videos I've seen show the fans being into it. I hope it's back next time Alice plays in the area.

The problem is probably that the reaction from the overall audiences in the US is kind of "calm" compared to Europe, although I'm convinced all the fans in the states are as eager to hear it as we are over here.

The"worse"is Paris. i was at l'Olympia show 2005 first row. Alice came on stage. Dozens
of mad fans run close to stage and we were crushed. Alice gave a 200%freaky show with this audience.he litterally was runned by its madness.i saw it clearly as i saw other shows in London or italy etc people are not so punchy and Alice has extra shows of course but at meet n greet in Olympia i saw for the first time on his face he had gave all. We can say the audience Makes the show for some part.

Just watched He's Back performed in Moscow
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFLv_c2V-Kg

Looks like he does a slightly new bit with "Jason"...watch around the 2:14 mark in the video...

Hope to see this back in the USA, especially on Halloween night coupled with Keeping Halloween Alive...fingers crossed :)

That looks pretty cool.

There have been a few small changes actually since the song was first included sometime during last year's Halloween UK dates. And at least at the last European show in 2012 in Basel (Switzerland), there was also a "Jason" episode, however that was a little bit different from the one in Russia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVqCYHY3_Qs

So far no Norway dates has been announced, probably a fat chance he keeps it on the setlist for a long time till next time he visits us?
It's one of the songs I've always wanted to see live, but never thought it was even close to be considered for live!
