Well, the easiest way is to tell what you paid for your ticket. If it was less than $72 plus fees you know you're not in the closest PIT section:

http://www.akroncivic.com/eventlist/eve ... php?id=984

I didn't pick up on this initially either.

These little theatre venues do this all the time. Their seating charts rarely reflect these additional 2-3 rows of temporary "PIT" seats added at the front.

I'm curious though, who told you you had front row if you ordered through AC.com?

Nope. I have not gotten mine.
At what point would you suggest we inquiry about the tickets?

We bought row A tickets, which according to the venue's own seating charts is front row. No mention was made on their site about "pit tickets" at the time tikcets first went on stage, and there is still nothing on their seating plans about these new rows. That could be considered false advertising.

We ONLY bought them BECAUSE they were front row, and then organised flights, hotels and other shows around the Akron date BECAUSE we had front row. That`s around $2500 spent so far based on having front row for this show.
Without those specific tickets our plans would have been substantially different and cheaper.

I hear ya. Like I said, a lot of these little theatres pull this stuff nowadays. I do believe, however, that I saw that PIT price advertised from the beginning on the venue website, however I completely forgot about it when buying my tickets as I'd just made the long trip back from Louisville and was happy just to get tix near the front.

I'm pretty picky about tickets myself... but I'll take anything in the first few rows for most shows, especially in an intimate theatre. But again, I didn't organize an entire trip around this so I can understand your disappointment.

Most likely, you'll be no farther back than 3rd row... and hopefully we can be on the barrier for Pittsburgh.

Third row isn`t acceptable when you were sold what was advertised as front row.
It's false advertising, which I believe is illegal. Going to call them when they open and find out what the deal is.

This is the second show on this tour this has happened to us now, and we are only doing THREE seated shows! All the rest are standing.

There's so much nonsense with ticketing these days that it wouldn't surprise me if these PIT tickets never actually went on sale to the regular public but rather were released to other "channels".

Just called them. Yes they are adding 20 "folding seats" in front of the so called front row (he constantly refered to row A as front row, despite the fact it now isn`t anything of the sort).
The guy at the box ofice claims the stage is 8ft high and those people aren't going to see much unless they are very tall. He also claims that row A is 5 ft from the stage, so that's 20 chairs (two rows it seems) in five foot of space.

He claims they are poor seats and he wouldn`t recommend them, yet they charge $30 more for these 'poor' seats.

Make sense?

It amazes me that these venues think they can do this stuff and that no one will care. Like we won`t notice or something.

Some of these venues run the show like amateur hour.

8ft high stage? That oughta be interesting.

I guess it's better to know this now rather than on the day of show when you and Jaded are rudely escorted from your seats right before the drop of the curtain. :bam:

It'll still be a good time.

On another note, I've checked out restaurants in the vicinity and this one looks like a it might be a cool place to go before the show:

I'm assuming it's that high for people down in "the pit", not on the main floor.
He did seema little unsure though and was guessing.

Wow....I'm trying to think if I've *ever* been to an indoor show where the stage was 8 feet high. Certainly can't remember one easily...

I was considering sending an email today. Just because, logically, they won't be able to jump and pull them in the mail in 5 minutes, so it'll likely be at LEAST the day after. And then, with travel, and it being a Tuesday show...I need my ticket by the Saturday before. (with no mail on Sundays, and me leaving before mail time on Monday)

As am I, however remember that the "pit" is LOWER then the main room to allow seated patrons to have a clear view of the stage over the orchestra's head. So if you are in the pit it could be pretty high.

Apparet from festivals type shows I think the highest stage I've seen is Newcastle City Hall which, once the monitors etc are in place, it's pretty hard to see that much from the front row unless the band are standing directly above you.

With an area that small....that's not necessarily the case. I've been to quite a few theater shows that had "pit" seats that were just put into an open area up front, it wasn't lowered.

Though...with 8 feet as his estimate, I'd rather hope it's the case here. That's just a crazy height otherwise.

Here's a photo of the Akron Civic theater I found online:

http://www.ryanhumbert.com/images/rhb_civic.gif

(photo from this page http://www.ryanhumbert.com/strungout.php)

It looks like it is a traditional orchestra pit which sits lower than the orchestra seating.

The orchestra seats are quite a bit away from the stage, however it does look like a cool old style theatre.

Wow, that is one hard-core pit area.

Gotta say though..the theater itself looks really cool.

Great place unless you're lactose intolerant.

I'd say 3-4pm would be a good time to meet up.
