Manchester 24 November

Post by Dave Conway » Mon Nov 16, 2009 6:29 pm

Right, all sorted for this now. Mrs Conway & I going, with eldest daughter (15) and our twins (11). Will be in circle row B. If you are in the area please say hello (I will be wearing my STUK T shirt and look exactly as per my avatar).

Our middle daugher is not coming with us, but eldest son is coming home from Uni (local) that night to baby sit her!

Going to finish work early, pick up the kids from school, feed them and set off asap (traffic on M62 can be heavy).

Really looking forward to this now. Does any one know if Apollo serve food (ie burgers etc), its just that kids have a habit of getting hungry during the evening (particularly if we give them their tea early). At MEN in Nov 07, we went to Manchester with the intention of finding somewhere to eat, then going to the venue....we had to wait nearly 1 hour to get seated in Pizza Hut, and had a mad dash to get to our seats just as the lights went down and Joan Jet came on. Kids where not happy about this at all (bit strange / scary for them) but would have been much better if we could have sat them down before it all kicked off.

Lesson learned eh?
...And personally, I don't care.

The last time I was at the Apollo was a couple of years ago to see Velvet Revolver.

If my memory serves me right :( I think you will find a burger van across the road from the Apollo. Theres a bar inside but they don't serve food.

There is also no air con in that place - so thank God its winter!

Pity you could not of done Sheffield City Hall. Its a superb venue and there are plenty of pubs, eats places around.

Still - have a great night
IF YOU GET UP IN THE MORNING, ITS A GOOD DAY!

Dave, I will be sat just behind in row C seats 22 to 25. I'll be with my daughter and two of her friends.
There is a macdonalds just a few hundred yards up Stockport Rd [turn left out of the Apollo]IYKWIM..........see ya there.

Does anybody know if tickets can only be picked up on the day of the concert. Mine are from AC.com and I have to pick up from box office.

Hey Stu

Tickets purchased via ac.com can only be picked up on the day of the performance, and not necessarily as soon as the box office opens - you may find you have to wait until the afternoon before they have them all sorted.

I have a few tickets bought through ac.com & the paranoid person i have become over this whole ticket thing i have emailed & spoken to said box offices. Most have said that tickets can be picked up from 4pm & Wolverhampton have said ac.com tickets can be picked up at 6pm. All have said that you must have the ac.com reference number as well as name & address id.

Hi Stu, nice one, we are seats 11-15. If we don't feed the kids before we travel, then we may well pop in to McDs, once we have got our tickets

;) .

Dave , I'll say hi if I can.

Ravenred, glad you posted that last bit of info. I was just going to go with the credit card I used to pay for the tickets.

Roll on Tuesday

Hi Dave

Don't know if this is of any use but depending on the time you arrive there is road called Wilmslow Road a short drive away (about 15 mins I reckon) which is known colloqially as the "curry mile". There is a load of Indian restaurants down there of spectacular quality and relatively cheap. You won't have the pizza hut experience because there are just so many so you will have no problems getting served quickly. Might make a change from Mac Donalds!!

Hi Robbie

I am very familiar with the Curry Mile, having been at college nearby (12 weekends over 2 years), but I would approach it from the south / M56 route. Anyways, just going to get there handy, get my tickets and then see what to do about food.

Crikey Dave, you don't want a Curry Mile extravanganza before the show ...... could be disastrous !!

Looking forward to the show, can't get there really early so will no doubt be stood at the back of the stalls. Still should be a cracker of a night.
