OK, I would first like to say, it was nice meeting fellow members Matt C. and Remarkably Insincere and his posse. What I have found of the true diehards, they tend to be cool people and usually very intelligent. That being said, I will give a rundown of what I saw tonight [and last night]. It was the same show as the dress rehearsal minus the mistakes that were charming but probably did not make Alice too happy.
OK so the important basic stuff. The band was rock solid. Alice's voice has stood the test of time. He sings as well as ever. It is a rock show. The show is fast paced, I think and is heavy on theatrics. So the thing that Alice told me on Monday was "that they're going to kill me five times. It's going to be amazing." Callico was all over the stage. She looks amazing and moves quite well, as always. I don't want to say how they kill him, though when you see the silk screen curtain before the show, it pretty much tells you what is going to happen. I went to the dress rehearsal with my wife. She is a casual fan, and the show is certainly catered to please the casual fan that should know most of the songs from classic FM radio when they used to play more than one song from an album.
OK - please forgive me if i screw up somewhere down the line from here on out. The show is very guitar heavy. With Eric Singer out, the drums are not featured as much. Chuck obviously has continued to work out. He is playing a Precision Bass and is still cut like crazy. Keri came out with a Les Paul and Damon began with a Gibson SG. Keri plays the acoustic bits when needed.
The songs. If i mess up on a title, please show mercy. My wife has the ipod and i was taking notes in the dark while watching. I am pretty sure i messed up at least once.

Ok, the band sounded great. The sound was great. I thought the sound guys missed solo cues during the rehearsal but they were virtually perfect tonight. Alice was on, the show was great. Now my "buts." I know that the show was designed for the casual rock fan [my wife] but I really like his recent albums. From ACAS, Dirty Diamonds, Eyes of Alice Cooper, Dragontown, Brutal Planet we have a grand total of three songs. I love the Special Forces, Dada, Flush the Fashion albums which I know aren't going to appear. So that makes a grand total of four songs written after 1980 when you add Poison.
The real "buzz kill." So the show is great and you're really into it, then comes the "encore." It's School's Out AGAIN. Yes, I know they didn't finish it with the balloons the first time through, but my wife turns to me and was like "didn't they already play that." That was last night. So tonight, i watched the crowd reaction, it was a collective "didn't they already play that?" The crowd was into it, but that was the entire encore. It's like you have a wonderful piece of chocolate cake. You savor every bite, but you save the last bite for last and it has a lot of frosting. Just as you are about to eat the last bite, someone walks by and eats it. It was a wonderful show with a disappointing ending. Alice does not have to play but i think he genuinely loves it. He is a national treasure that we should never take for granted. . We need him to show our kids "this is what a rock show is supposed to be like." Once they see it, they get it. He delivered the goods tonight.
