Alice plays Montreux again!!!
On July 8th.
And "Die Aertzte" are also playing. Mad night in perspective
Finally at home. At work I didn't remember the "*%"5 password :D
At 12:00 precisely (this is Switzerland after all) the website of the Montreux festival activates the link to the program.
At 12:01 I refresh the page and click on the link. 30 seconds later I let my colleague see the fangirl side of me Alice is on the list!
Oh happy day! The best day in the year, save for the actual concert! When I hold that ticket that says "Alice Cooper".
Just as I was squeeing like mad my colleague went "Oh an eagle!" I thought he was pulling my leg as eagles don't often fly over our town. I thought he was still on April Fools day. But he was right!!!!
An eagle was circling high in the sky chased by, a crow, a busard, and a red kite! Who were all chasing it away madly!
I almost went to buy a lottery ticket! So much luck in one day. But let's not tempt it too much
Please tell me you're also coming ... well not the whole forum, but I am sick (hu, hu) of going to see Alice on my own!

Re: Alice plays Montreux again!!!
I hope not! I was worried for weeks to be seen as the crazy maniac I turn into when I am seeing Alice Thank goodness the only filmed us in between songs!
More seriously, all the concerts in Montreux are filmed which is my main gripe with them. You constantly get these huge cameras in the way and they block your view. Most of the recordings end up in their archives and are never shown though.
You pay the steepest prices in the country to see the back of a cameraman. Then again I admit that they have line ups and most of all "jam sessions" like you never see anywhere lese in Europe, or rarely. I've seen incredible concerts there and it's only an hour away from home.

Re: Alice plays Montreux again!!!
Last time I looked it was
It's a beautiful place as soon as you get out of town and away from the horrid touristic center and luxury hotels.
But this part of the lake shore isn't called "the riviera" for nothing.
What I love is to watch the kites plunge and pounce on the fish in the lake. I love birds of prey.
For anyone who'd like to come along. Be quick about booking your hotel rooms. And if Montreux is sold out you can find some nice opportunities in Vevey, much nicer town (some medieval streets here and there) and there is a free bus going from the festival door to Vevey, until at least 2 or 3am during the festival.
There are shuttle busses to other places to, I think it's all explained on the website.
If you need any help just holler?
EDIT: oops a friend just told me the show has sold out? I'm guessing it's also because it's a double bill with "Die Aertzte" they are huge in Switzerland (mostly for German speaking people of course)
The opening act hasn't even been announced yet!
That means I'll be on my own again? Bah.... typical

Deep Purple still come to play. They played Montreux last year for instance. I've never seen them, but it must be fun when they play that song. Although the old casino doesn't exist anymore.

Alice and Die Aerzte on one stage -- that's awesome and a dream come true for me!!
Most of you guys may not know them but they are a VERY popular (kind of)punkrock band here in germany.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_%C3%84rzte
It's great for Alice because he's got his premiere to a lot of new kids in the audience. For the most part by all means because everybody I know personally who likes Alice also loves Die Aerzte. It's gonna be a great night.

Re: Alice plays Montreux again!!!
So true. I am not a fan as such, but I love die Aertzte when I hear them on the radio or so. Like I said the are just as huge on the Swissgerman side of this country. I am assuming they will play last. I kind of hope so, then I can give all to Alice and move back for the last part?
Well, there's still lots of time to see this coming. Atlanta Santa, I will be very glad if I can get a little hand to get to the front line. I have a secret trick that usually works even if it's a bit of a lottery. I'll share the secret with you of course Fans must help each other out I say!

Re: Alice plays Montreux again!!!
Dragonlady: Sorry to say that but after the first euphoria it turned out that the whole trip is going to be too expensive for me -- after I just bought a new guitar. Especially the ticket prices for the train to swizerland are insane so I have to hope for some german dates this year.
But thanks for the offer to share your secret trick. I'm sure you're not the only Alice fan in the building so maybe the trick will work anyway -- Have fun!

Re: Alice plays Montreux again!!!
Ah too bad. Well during the 15 years I've been going to Alice's concerts, I have almost never found a fan to help me out. But most of the time I manage to get to the front.

Re: Alice plays Montreux again!!!
No idea. But I have never seen two shows from the same venue released for any artist? So it's a safe bet to say no?
It will be filmed, all Montreux concerts are (which usually makes me really upset as the cameras keep blocking our view) but nothing can assure that it will even be shown on Swiss TV (only a small proportion of the concerts are shown)

Re: Alice plays Montreux again!!!
There's someone offering 4 Montreux tickets on www.ricardo.ch, the "Swiss Ebay" for 135 CHF (about 80£)
Sounds strange as tickets are 90CHF, but the person has only positive feedback (and about 60 sales?)
Just thought I'd share.

Re: Alice plays Montreux again!!!
Checked the "ticketcorner" website and there were still tickets to be had. Strange.
And I just watched the dvd tonight to get in the mood. I need to buy some valium so I can survive the wait, and the anguish of queuing for a good place... only joking but it's really getting worse each year.
Oh and speaking of Deep Purple, they seem to have agreed to play a tiny little festival about 20 minutes from here! Last time I went there it was in a cow field LOL
I got tickets for my best friends too, I am sick of going on my own.
