ACAS Worldwide Sales

Post by WickedYoungMan » Tue Sep 30, 2008 3:58 pm

According To This Website:

http://www.worldwidealbums.net/

Along Came A Spider has a total of 83,000 worldwide.

That isn't to say it's completely accurate, in fact you can see how they come up with their numbers in the "method" section.

That appears to be the site owners personal pref. list, not a sales chart (at least as indicated by how he does all of these in this blog.)

Glad to see ACAS doing good numbers. While I realize these all play a part, which played the biggest role in the increased numbers in your opinion (doesn't have to be a hard fact)?

1) Quality of the writing and production
2) Improved marketing of the Alice Cooper brand including the CD theme
3) Better use of technology including websites, videos, pinball games, etc.
4) Carryover from the excellent live shows the last few tours
5) Increased interest in classic rock from video games
6) Prayer and devine intervention
7) Something else
Caffeine! Caffeine!
Amphetamine
A little speed is all I need

(2) and (3) would have helped. Plus maybe a little of 4, as he did some high profile shows with other acts to new people, could have helped. Plus the TV appearances.

Doubt it was (1) haha although VIM was a good choice as the lead track out of what was available.

The online stuff probably helped a little, though I still think they waited a little bit long before posting Alice's video online (why wasn't it shown on VH1 Classic as well) and trying to get any kind of radio airplay.

However, the biggest factor in the sales of the album I believe was the fact Alice is on SPV. While it is not a big label, it has a lot of good hard rock and metal acts and certainly capable of pushing the album better than some of Alice's labels in recent years.

I noticed in all the oz reviews etc that they dropped slashs name and ozzy too , so that may also help with sales . i guess you get those who are into ozzy and slash crossing over to see whats up .

At a guess i would say the great theme and marketing is what pushed sales up , as it was realy top notch stuff and well executed .

Quality of the writing and production , um i would say no for me . I could rattle off recent coop albums that for me squash the spider .
