Post by recoop » Tue Aug 05, 2008 4:27 pm

Will Alice deliver a new big production show for ACAS in 2009 or is this Alice spinning a yarn and we will get greatest hits plus 3 or 4 ACAS tracks...hope its all ACAS personally with maybe some oldies at encore...what do you think he will do...would be interested to read views

I think it would be an excellent way of further promoting the album, and also to breathe some 'theatrical life', into the ACAS story line.

He has worked hard at busking (not only), his 'popular' back catalogue, but also some of his 'less well known' songs too.

It is always a big risk to play larger segments of a new release, (unless it is a clear success); however, I truly think that ACAS needs this, and it will be interesting to see if it happens this way. Alice is quite fortunate in that he has sufficient suitable songs (and props too!) behind him, that can be adapted to fit in with such a show, however he decides to play it.

But a 'new big production' on the theatrical front, would be most welcome, whatever the percentage 'risk for (or agains)t' factor!

He might do about half of the album live , but I wouldn't bet on the whole thing....He can bring out some of his other songs that are alike some of the songs on ACAS. Like Shoey said "It's still a while away".

He has made a reference to doing them all.....time will tell.

Does anybody remember which interview that was in? I KNOW I read it, and have a friend who also did...but there are so many, and I didn't bookmark it.

I think he should do the whole album start to finish, then do about 10 or so of the well known/hits along with the Chop,Chop, Chop, Gail, Roses On White Lace thing

He also made more than a reference to ACAS being...

1) Heavy...........it's a million miles from heavy!!
2) Full of hits......as above....Love the album....but 'hits'...no way.

So i personally take what he says about his albums/tours as seriously as i do a Tabloid newspaper! ;)

The new CD is out now
So a new show with these songs only makes
sense to do NOW
Why would someone want to start promoting the
new songs 6 months to a year after the release
Who thought up that tactic.

If I recall, the DD tour was supposed to be a huge theatrical tour.

I still think, as I said a month or so ago, that he was using 'hits' as in someone being killed. Like a hitman. Using words like he does in songs that can have more than 1 meaning.
PLEASE, save me from this sick man!

the fact that its a concept album makes it a lot easier to make a concept show and i would love it to turn out that way. The average go'er obviously wants to hear the hits but then the thing about Alice is that he puts on a good theatrcal show so i doubt they would be disapointed. I guess a fair but of it lies on popularity and album sales. It would be great to see but then i dont want to get my hopes up either hehe

like they say, anything's possible. Maiden have proven that it's possible to do different out-of-the-ordinary stuff :paly an entire new album, and do a tour of nothin but 20 years old hits etc, so i'd put nothing past Alice. Let's face it, the last few tours have been fairly samey, and (let's ignore the fact we'd all go to see him whatever he does!!) one way to pack the house is to do something way different - a concept stageshow, perhaps. he's done enough psycho-related/creepyass songs to tie in w/ the ACAS material, he could do a REAL "psychodrama" tour, something really dark and disturbing.
the whole concept of pimping an album w/ a tour 8 months after the release makes no sense to me whatsoever, so i doubt that would be a reason.
Personally, i'm still in two minds over ACAS, it's not what i was hoping it would be, but i still think live it would be a different beast altogether.

1) oh, you mean like Catch Me If You Can, Vengeance Is Mine, and I Am The Spider. Those aren't heavy at all ;) ......Now I know we have the habit of listening to stuff like Dream Theater, Motorhead, Metallica, etc  . But most non-metalheads don't listen to albums that have songs with all the guitars tuned two and three steps-down from standard.

2) you mean like Vengeance Is Mine, Catch me if you can, (In Touch With) Your Feminine Side, and Killed By Love......I can see/hear and of these being a hit!
