Oh, typical. Comes out for pre order the day AFTER I steel myself to enter HMV. :rotfl: I would go via Amazon 'cept I want it the very day it comes out.... so I've struck a happy medium and pre ordered the vinyl (via your links, of course!)

Thanks for the heads up Si!

It should be mentioned that often Amazon preorders DO arrive on the day of release as they send them out a day (saturday in UK case) before to allow that, although it isn`t guarenteed.

Yeah, that is true. However as my mail rarely shows up before 11:00am I'll be long gone off to work by the time it arrives and I'm greedy and impatient and want it in my paws as soon as possible!

On a personal note, last time we had a new album (Dirty Diamonds of course) STUK managed to shift 175 copies in the first month or so.
I'm rather proud of that, as I doubt any single shop could claim anything close, with the exception of the huge Amazons/Play.com etc of this world.

I would LOVE to beat that figure this time around.

By the way, in case anyone wonders Amazon orders DO register for the official album charts.

Out of all the people buying the vinyl version I wonder how many of them, like me, can't even play them anymore?

Maybe I'll have to get one of those USB record players. Then I can get the songs from the Spiders album I bought too.

My record player is operational. A little dusty but plugged in and ready to spin when I feel the urge.

Well, I actually took off work on July 29 so i could go out to my local Best Buy and pick up ACAS. As for the vinyl, if the link comes through on Amazon USA via this site, I will definitely pick it up since I recently acquired a perfectly playable record player. I already went out and bought several records for it including Lace and Whiskey, Flush the Fashion, Constrictor, and Trash. I will get Killer next (saw that the calendar is still intact too :).

Well the second part of the equation is if you bought the vinyl and have the ability to play it, would you? Or buy 2 one to play and one to keep virgin.

My record player went to that great platter commune in the sky some years ago so it'll just be the CD through the site this time.

I would suggest that a USB turntable is a good idea, if a little time consuming, as unlike burning cd's you (generally) have to sit over the thing to edit tracks while it is playing. There may be ways of doing this by veiwing the sound scan after the event, but it looks much trickier (to me anyway!) doing it that way.

There are various versions, the best (I think) of which includes an iPod docking station. You can of course just use it as a record player too and connect it to your regular sound system as it has its own 'pre-amp'.

The Gracenote software - in mine - has a sound recognition device and it can automatically suggest the album and track titles of most 'published' legit albums which is impressive - to say the least! - but this does not work with bootlegs (of course!).
