as they used to say on "In Living Color"--"hated it!"
really...aside from the naughty mazaratti line, this is definitely a throwaway track for me. I might feel differently when I hear it on a better sound system, though.

Sorry--I cant say anything bad about Steal that Car. Filler it may be, but it was an unusual and enjoyable piece of work that has a lot of heart. I dont understand exactly what it is that you folks are expecting but it hurts my ears to hear you down the tune so badly. :(

I gave it a "Good."

I have definitely heard BETTER from Alice, but I do like it. Anxious to hear more....

In my humble opinion. This song is AWFUL, poor and simple.

The lyics are terrible. The music is amateur at best.

This is simply embarrassing to listen to.

If the rest of CD is like this, IMO Alice is going to be slated in many reviews.

Someone should tell him this, before this is released to the general public.

This is Ubangi Stomp all the way. At least Alice had an excuse when he wrote US as he was probably drunk.

If Zombie dance is a bad as the last 2 songs I don't think I will bother buying the CD on release day. I will probably wait until it lands in the bargain bucket.

Alice needs to hire professional songwriters and stop writing with session musicians. He needs to do this FAST.

I predict this will be his worst selling CD of all time.

Well spotted haha

'Ubangi Stomp' was originally by Warren Smith

That shows how much i listen to it.

i am not sure whether that is better or worse though.

Alice thought that U.S. was a good song and worth covering

sheez

Exactly what I was thinking!!
Although legend has it I belive that it was one of the first songs he bought, hence he covered it as nostalgia. Can't remember where I read that though.

errrr... no. Nothing like it.
Listing it as an option in the poll is an in-joke as most people are aware I loath the track.

I take offence to your "session musicians" comment...the guys Alice is writing with now are his BAND, and have been with him for varying amounts of years.
And you can't pin the cheesiness of this tune on anyone but the Boss, I'm afraid...... :bam:

I haven't heard it yet but I WILL say this, a lot of you are being really nit-picky about this album so far. Sure, we ALL want Alice to do something totally AMAZING again but if he doesn't ..... get over it. :8s:

Do you want him to RETIRE already?!?!

This Alice bashing is TOTALLY depressing. :(

This is kinda what I was refering to in my other thread about weather playing the songs this early on the show was a good idea.
Maybe new a few more people now see what I was getting at!

I know we are being a bit harsh on new songs. The problem is Alice is a victim of his own success.
He has written some of best songs and albums ever. So we will obviously compare any new songs to the old.

Brutal Planet was excellent and blew me away. There are no songs I could say are bad on that. I played BP for a year and is still my fave Alice CD. Dragontown had some excellent songs SDM for example but also some turkeys. The Eyes was average overall. Some good songs but a lot of throwaway average tracks.

The problem with the songs I have heard of Dirty Diamonds so far is that they sound like the throwaway tracks from the eyes. Personally i don't think they are good enough.

I am still hoping that there are some great songs to come on DD.

Sure, we ALL want Alice to do something totally AMAZING again but if he doesn't ..... get over it. :8s:

I am not expecting amazing, good will do me. Songs I could play to my non Alice friends and impress them

Do you want him to RETIRE already?!?!

I don't want him to retire. Just to hire a songwriter or two and take time to write a classic and to stop writing average songs.

This Alice bashing is TOTALLY depressing. :(

I know it is depressing but it is only because we care. i want Alice to be good all the time.

Yes--I concure--wholeheartedly!

Everyone's opinion is important and they have a right to them--so bash away my friends. I will just crawl in a corner somewhere and weep. ::((:

Fair enough, good point Si.

I am just pissed that so-called 'fans' are so quick to judge on the basis of only TWO tracks.

Thing is, this type of 'fan' seems to come here whingeing about absolutely EVERYTHING Alice does, be it writing, singing, stage show, political views, religion - the lot. What happened to LOYALTY guys?!?!
