Pitkin hates it already.

It's a cover song, right? Am I the only one who's totally disappointed to see so many covers again? Even the first single apparently! I definitely remember how he promised all new songs for this album. And now we already see at least 5 cover songs on this, maybe more

My money is on "horribly derivative," with maybe a dash of "complete rubbish."

I didn't know the song, but upon hearing the original, it seems totally up his street. I can imagine this being done very well by him.

I only got through 10 seconds of the original.

Please, lay off Lou. He's an icon in his own right & is as New York as AC is Detroit. If it is the VU song we're talking about (& we'll know tomorrow) Steve Hunter & Dick Wagner were in the touring band that recorded "Rock 'n' Roll Animal."
One of the best single Lp "Live" releases ever & paired w/ "Lou Reed Live" you get most if not all of the show. I think AC can surely do this song justice. Just another of his "Dead Drunk Friends." This cover w/a Detroit connection thru the musicians involved isn't much of a leap. Sorry, Pitkin

you really wouldn't understand..

I like it. Very much the same sound as Breadcrumbs. Alice's voice is so strong for a man his age. Only heard it on my phone so really looking forward to hearing it properly. Bodes well for the album.

Much better than I expected. Alice is in fine voice here. Arrangement and style are different enough to separate it from the original. Good thing Alice didn't do complete musical clone of the song and then just put his vocals on top of it. Great guitar work by Steve Hunter and Joe Bonamassa.

I am not a fan of covers, but I am enjoying this one, I listened through headphones with the volume whacked up high!
The guitars sound great, and the solos are magnificent, and Alice sounds fresh and lively.
My only complaint is that it is a cover!

Better than I anticipated. Ezrin reins in the kitchen sink approach for a tight groove. Reminiscent of Dead Flies; more Hendrix than Velvets. Vocals are strong - I like it when Alice slips into the higher register - whilst guitars & drums are 'in yer face'. Love that organ sound too. Excellent start. (No touring band or original members in sight though.)

Not totally crazy about it, but sounds good and maybe further listens will change my feelings. I'm just glad We have a new album to look forward to in these COVID-19 times

First listen...better than I was expecting, didn't blow me away. I don't mind the sound, slightly different to the last few albums and more in the mould of the Breadcrumbs which bodes well for the songs that aren't covers IMO. The solo didn't really go anywhere for me which was disappointing. My guess is its Bonammassa playing it. I think its definitely a grower and is a better track than any of those on the Breadcrumbs EP.

It resembles the Mitch Ryder cover far more than the VU original, although Alice's vocals are better and Ezrin beefs up the arrangement. According to Amazon next release is Our Love Will Change The World, Dec 11th.
