You’re a movie lyric

Post by Babysquid » Mon Nov 09, 2020 12:12 pm

Hi! Hope everyone is well. I’ve been wondering about this lyric for a while. Exactly what type of movie is he? The lyric section here says “ the one o’kind”, another lyric site says “final kind” ( I certainly don’t hear this!), Linda Henrick ,god bless her, say “the * kind” and I’ve always heard “porno kind”. In fact I’ve just listened to it and I still hear “Porno” am I wrong and do I need an ear doctor?

Strangely enough, last night I was trying to recall which AC albums had printed lyrics included and didn't remember any lyrics included in SF's packaging. I could have just looked through my collection...anyhoot, just thought it a cool coincidence we were both thinking of SF's lyrics.
"He's old, the snake's got gray hair..."

As for what kind of movie, it's clearly a war hero movie. I've always assumed it was based on Patton.

Answered by Padre already. Always wondered, in the pre-internet time, where all these lyrics were found if they didn't come with the lp.. Sometimes we had lyrics written (or invented :)) by Linda Henrick, and sometimes even for non-english speaking fans it was obvious the lyrics were not correct.

Yes I referred to these in my initial post but are these actually the “official” lyrics or are they one of Si’s minion’s transcriptions?

I guess sometimes you had official sheet music and song books although even those weren’t always reliable.

Al the lyrics on this site are transcribed by me, directly from the record, and where they weren't clear I checked with any record sleeves available and got other opinions to try and make them as accurate as possible to what Alice actually sings. I say actually sings, as often the lyrics on a sleeve aren't 100% the same as what he sings on the actual recorded version.

I think they are generally pretty accurate, but as with anything there are likely errors here and there where things aren't clear.

In reference to the specific lyric being asked about, I *think* Renfield may have posted about this, or maybe he emailed/I asked and that is what he said. It's a very vague memory, but I think this one has come up before.

The lyrics page on this site is great. I couldn't believe how many songs I had been singing wrong for years! On 'You're a Movie' verse 2 starts "The bullets repel off my metals" - shouldn't that be medals, rather than metals?

The lyric is "one o' kind". "One of a kind" did not roll off the tongue to fit the meter. This was told to me by Erik. I think Duane may have mentioned this once in a FB posting.

Thanks for that Mr Barlow! 14 year old me now feels less embarrassed to play it in front of my mum!
