Suzi Q.
What a wonderful interview!
AC & Suzi touched on so much but still managed to promote her Doc as well. A well spent 30 mins.
I would vote Suzi into the Rock Hall!
I bought "Your Mama Won't Like Me" 45 before she appeared on "Happy Days"
I was thrilled to see her perform "Devil Gate Drive" on said show!
Go Go Go Detroit!

Is there a link? Really wanted to see her on the WTMN tour but the support was The Heavy Metal Kids who were great.

Re: Suzi Q.
Just listened to it there. Slight bit of confusion when Suzi asked Alice if he'd heard her version of I Never Cry and he got it into his head she'd said Only Women Bleed.
This led to him saying the usual stuff about it becoming a female anthem and the number of women that had covered it (Only Women Bleed) instead of having what might have been an interesting conversation about I Never Cry and Suzi's decision to cover it.

Good catch Vince! Thank's for the link!
Works well acoustic w/vocals. I'd heard the stumble but AC kept churning on so,
it didn't occur to me to check out her version later. Thanks again!

Yes it was confusing. I went on YouTube to see if I could find Tina Turner singing I Never Cry.

Thanks for that. I think part of the problem for Suzi was she never had a great or arguably good album. Great 45s and probably deserves a place in the RRHOF that a lot of people could care less about.

She found her following in Europe. I have a few of her albums but they're Imports!pitkin88 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 8:10 pmThanks for that. The"Mama" I have is a domestic (US) single.
Her early Lp's are her best - but, too much Chinn/Chapman attempting to create the next Big Hit.
The B side to Mama was a total throwaway called Peter Peter! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rZLNuZtaNw
With help like that it's not hard to imagine that C & C were spreading themselves thin by working with The Sweet also.

Oh my God is that is horrible. Chinn and Chapman were amazing when you think about all the hits they wrote.

The Stock, Aitkin, Waterman of the 70’s
Re: Suzi Q.
I listened to that "Peter Peter Sausage Eater" song and with a few tweaks and a coked out Ezrin it would have fit right in on "Lace & Whiskey".
Re: Suzi Q.
Agree, and then when you include their later work together and then independently, particularly Mike Chapman's own major hits with Blondie, Tina Turner, Pat Benetar and others it really is impressive.
