All of us should have seen the ACG or AC perform "Live" once or twice.
My question is about the Halls they've played in, good, bad or Wow, & where are they now?
Or, I don't believe I saw them in this setting.
1. Painters Mill, MD - Wow, my 1st show in "The Round"! Special Forces Tour.
The place burned to the ground a few years later
2. Capitol Centre, MD - Operation R'n'R Tour - "Hey Stoopid" Tour
Motorhead begged off at the last minute & Priest closed. AC was in fine form but, after a short break for Priest it became sing along w/Rob time. He nailed it in the opening set but...
That venue was imploded to make way for the current Redskins Stadium.
3. Merriweather Post Pavilion, MD - Dragontown Tour. Excellent! A Halloween show & the venue was hosting a Halloween event on the property that involved rides & tours & scares galore!
A Haunted House was erected onstage so, AC performed on a temporary stage that was erected over the 1st 10 -20 rows. So, our rear alphabet row was only about 10 rows back! Merriweather still stands.
However, as the community has grown they have noise issues!
4. Cancelled due to coronavirus."Live" Casino Hanover, MD less than 5 miles away.
The closest they've toured in 10 years & not part of a package that starts at $100 for a cheap seat.
Where have all of the Venues to see "Live" music gone? But, can they survive during the Pandemic?
I'm sure the SickThings can expound on this.

Glasgow Apollo. An absolute dump - broken seats, sticky carpet, smelly. But what a fantastic place to see a band. God, I miss it.

London Astoria - Scene of the amazing shows in '97 and '98. Demolished for new station with the promise it would be rebuilt but it wasn't.

The legendary Marquee - Moved from it's original place in Wardour Street to Charing Cross Road, and now a restaurant

The Rainbow - Now some religious center

The Warner Theatre Washington D.C.
An Art Deco Movie House that was converted into a "Live Music" venue. I never saw AC there but a Fantastic Hall! The Art Deco decor was cracked & falling off of the walls but they did a restoration to the venue & I haven't been back to see/hear the result. Little Feat recorded their "Waiting For Columbus" album there & were the 1st band invited back after the restoration.

Wembley Pavillion , while Wembley Arena was being switched around in 2005 , thank god it was only a temporary structure it made the actual arena seem not so bad

Saw Alice at the following venues.....

Patriot Center-Fairfax Va Nov 86 for CONSTRICTOR tour. Now called EagleBank Arena.
Baltimore Civic Center-Baltimore MD Dec 86 again for CONSTRICTOR. Has changed names many times and currently known as Royal Farms Arena (Royal Farms is a 7-11 type store with Kick Ass Coffee!). Saw quite a few shows at BCC, OK place, but acoustics could be dodgy.
Nissan Pavillion-Bristow VA 8/96 on the SCHOOL'S OUT tour with The Scorpions. Now Jiffy Lube Live. A BEAR to get in and out of.
Merriweather Post Pavillion-Columbia MD for 10/01 and 10/02 exactly one year apart for DRAGONTOWN. Not crazy about the album, but both shows were awesome, especially being so close for the 02 one. Went to a LOT of shows at MPP, was very near to where wife and I lived. Just a good venue all the way.
Meadowbrook-Gilford NH for Masters of Madness Tour with Marilyn Manson 6/13 and Ol Black Eyes is Back 8/19. Changed the name in between these two shows to Bank of New Hampshire Pavillion. Close to where we live and I enjoy the shows more towards the back.

Saw Dennis Dunaway with Blue Coupe at The Tupelo in Lononderry NH 8/13, the venue was more like a large barn. The Tupelo is now in Derry NH and much nicer set up

A very special venue. I recently watched an STV documentary on the Apollo just before they pulled it down. Narrated by Alvin Stardust of all people. Alice gets a few mentions. You can catch it on YouTube.

Yeah i attended many amazing shows at the astoria (and its little brother the LA2) not just for alice but so many great bands from paradise lost and gary numan to w.a.s.p. and clawfinger. was always a super intimate venue despite being quite large. Really miss that venue.
I remember the alice gigs at the astoria in 97 and 98 - superb crowd and in the 97 gig i sweated so much my ticket disintegrated in my pocket! - also nothings free & cleansed by fire got played so your already onto a winner.

Now there are no good "mid sized" venues around, its either the garage (so so atmosphere) or the god awful islington academy(or "the shopping center" as we call the horrible venue - seen the odd good gig there but man they have to work so hard to overcome the horrible atmosphere.) then nothing until your brixton level venues. (which are great when standing but alice likes his seating....cough.....brutal planet tour.....)

The wonderful roundhouse played host to an amazing halloween alice show, it was a rubbish (or more specifically just very safe and bland) setlist but man, the crowd and atmosphere was crazy! that just kicked off!
But i have seen many bands in that wonderful venue and no one has yet played a bad one in the roundhouse. always a great atmosphere there.

I think most of the other alice ones were sheds ....which are....not great, especially as he now must have seating even on the floor!

I agree. Saw sooo many shows at the Astoria/LA2, and while I've seen way to many AC shows over the years, if pushed I'd probably go for the Astoria ones as the best ever. Packed from front to back, and so hot you could see the steam coming off the crowd.

No, Alice does NOT like the seating. That's the promoters doing so they can sell VIPs more easily. Alice likes the crowd to be able to go crazy, as the energy feeds him and the band, and that doesn't really happen with seats in a shed.

It's a simple fact that the smaller the venue (within reason of course), the better Alice's show works. Removing the seats would help a lot of course.
I honestly can't see why anyone would buy an expensive ticket for ANY show only to be 60+ rows away from the stage in a shed. You'll get a better view on Youtube!

Brief funny moment, bouncing off of Si's comment... At the Turning Stone casino show, they had long tables set up, perpendicular to the stage. People were seated at the tables to watch the show. I had one lady between me and the stage, and toward the end of the show, Alice came over and bent down to say something to her. He had a smirk growing on his face before he said, "What? Are you waiting for your dinner?"

The interior of the theatre is exactly the same as it was then. Only differences are more modern ticket office and bar.
