" The cost for the musician was $141,140.08" that's a bit specific.

I'm proud of Shep!

Get every last penny possible--right down to the eight cents!

I'm sure it's payment in advance and that eight cents better be in the cashier's check or wire transfer!

I'm not certain the pay scales for the local crew brought in for the show, but if they are unionized there would be a union scale wage needed to be paid to them which adds to the cost.

At any rate---the good thing is the burden of making a profit lies with the organizer(s) and promoters.

Also, it seems that the town got a cut of merchandise and concessions. Just think of the money made by Alice looking at that number. If the town got 10% cut which would be generous it pans out that Alice made more in merch than he did for performing. My God---this is why I LOVE capitalism!!!

So you will understand then, why THIS particular city (and others?) may stay away from booking an Alice Cooper show in the future. Capitalism and Democracy!

In capitalism there are winners and losers. They lost on this one. There are plenty of other cities for Alice to play. Democracy is a great thing....its a shame political correctness has stifled some of the freedoms afforded in it..at least here in the USA with our Constitution.

I'm guessing the meet and greet income would all be to Alice's so another top up on his pay check.

Strikes me that if you can get this kind of gross income from what I'm guessing is a pretty small venue you still have a pretty profitable touring product even at this level and potentially another reason to play it relatively safe with the set list.

Don't book him on a Sunday is probably the lesson learned here.

When small towns and events can no longer afford his prices, he'll have to settle for a lot of casino shows. Those places can absorb losses a lot better (at least for awhile) and have a lot of built in expenses in place to begin with. Hate to see Alice as a casino lounge act.

That would be just awful. Alice getting paid 100k per night along with another 100k in merch per night.

What a dreadful existence.

He's been playing casinos for a long time now Bob. My last show was at Viejas in San Diego County. It was a very small room. I'm guessing no more than 500 people.

I'm well aware of that...in fact the last two shows (solo Alice) I've been too were at casinos in Vegas. And that was MANY years ago. I've often wondered if Alice has considered, or even been offered, a six month residency in a Vegas casino? Set up a really big Vegas-style stage show. Built in audiences. Occasional guests. Mucho golf courses in the immediate vicinity. Might be a good idea when he decides to "leave the road".

He's mentioned the idea in a few interviews in the last couple of years I think, relating to doing WTMN.
Of course it isn't a new idea. Remember "Alice at the Palace" from the early 70s.

As soon as a residency happens at a casino - that's it, all legitimacy is over in my eyes. Could just be me, but man....i have seen footage from these type of shows and they are terrible. Going through the motions is the kindest thing i can say.

At this point in his career I would think the day he decides a residency is the way forward is the day he decides to stop touring. Looking at his work ethos the day he decides to stop touring is the day he thinks hes past it, so nah i think its a poor idea.

I just don't see him doing anything like that. He is just starting to really open up his setlist again, a residency would really be a bare bones greatest hits show.

Why would it be a poor idea, if that is what Alice wants to do? (A poor idea FOR you?)

Legitimacy???? I agree with mr. barlow here. It's all about the bucks. Today, in music: The more cash you make - the more legitimacy you get. After all, we aren't talking Beethoven, Mozart, or Chopin

I get the impression it is his intention to tour untill he feels he can no longer put on the show associated with the name "Alice Cooper", the show that people to this day still recommend as bang on good value for £££ and as a specticle to be seen by fans of rock music. So when he starts thinking,"I can't tour anymore" then maybe its time to leave it on a high and enjoy the fruits of his success in other ways. As far as I know he is yet to play my local golf course! :rotfl:

I’m not going to argue about the legitimacy aspect of this residency discussion, but a Las Vegas residency alone does not mean that he would be laying touring to rest. Kiss, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, and Guns N Roses to name a few have had and some of them are still touring residencies from time
to time.

Alice sold out with the meet and greets. Vegas would make sense if he were in the same league as the four above but I'm not sure the promoters would think he was. I think it would be a good idea as he caters to the casuals and that's what he would get in Vegas.

BS. There have always been "meet and greets." In the past they were exclusively for local media and record company morons and their friends who exchanged rubbing elbows with celebrity for some positive spin on the show and maybe a few more plays on the radio. That sold tickets and records that made the "sell outs" a few bucks. These days nobody is listening to radio or buying records so the "sell outs" have to collect that money where ever they can.
