Cooper'stown - RIP?

From the front page. If this is the end, then that is sad news indeed. I was hoping to visit there someday. Oh well, nothing's forever. Especially in the restaurant business! We went to the Cleveland one about 11 years ago. It was just like any other place, only this place had an Alice flair. It was a bar with food. There was a Joe Walsh gold record hanging on the wall. Loud music with some Alice songs. Burgers and fries for all. I liked it, but I couldn't see making my wife go there very often.

I was rather gutted to hear this and saddened for the people who work(ed) there too. That place developed a lot of history over the years and it's sad to think that fans will no longer be able to visit.

We are in the process of booking a big holiday to USA next year and Phoenix was my number 1 destination as I always wanted to look at all the memorabilia hanging on the walls. I'm glad that we hadn't committed to it now so looking at visiting Dallas instead.

Went there around 2000 or so with another Alice fan. Both of us agreed it was nothing special. The stuff on the walls was nothing special. I wouldn't describe it as a mecca for Alice fans.

lucky enough to get there twice, great place. sad to see it gone :-(

didn't it hit some financial issues years back when there was some strike thing w/ the NFL?

There was an NFL lockout back in 2011 from March to July, and before that there hasn't been an actual strike since 1987. It is possible they may have run into some problems with the lockout I suppose for a few months in 2011 but I doubt they would have hung on another six year if a short lockout ruined business (and this was during the off season) so I think it probably stemmed from other problems. It is a shame. The restaurant business is hard and you have to have people consistently coming in.

Went there twice, they had some cool stuff on the walls, but nothing amazing, however, got some good swag (which dried up in recent years) and the food wasn't bad.

Had a friend go for me while he was visiting there a decade ago. Brought me back a CT guitar pick, popcorn bag and menu.

Never visited but I do own a nice quality, black button-up, short sleeve Cooperstown shirt. Bought it off ebay several years back. It usually only gets worn on hot summer days or at gigs as the fabric material is very thin. :)

Sounds like something I'd listen to. If Merle Haggard was on the mic.
