Give it up for Dennis Dunaway!

Dennis turned P from an okay to good album to a great one.

Fireball and The Sound of A are amazing. They add musical and lyrical depth that has been missing.

Bob Ezrin and Alice are fond of talking about how much they understand the Alice character. I think Dennis understands it better than both of them.

It makes me sad about all the great music that hasn't happened for decades when they weren't working together, but also very happy that at this late date we get their great collaboration. Hoping for MUCH more on the next album and SOONER rather than later!

From what I've gathered, Dennis is a major architect of all things AC.

Let's elaborate on that. In his book, Dennis:

- states that he initiated the concept of stagecraft for Alice/the Group and crusaded non-stop for it.
- wrote Black Juju.
- wrote the original lyrics for Desert Night Thing (which became Desperado).
- came up with the initial song idea/lyrics for Under My Wheels.
- came up with the initial song idea/lyrics for Killer (the song).
- did about 10,000 other things detailed in his book, interviews, etc. which helped build and maintain the entire concept of Alice/the Original Group.

Yes dennis did write it in a book, so it must be true.
Look we all know dennis is a legend and the one original member who seems to truly get and love the alice cooper character. (Incidentally I am with him about the alice character being better with more mystique than when alice "went celebrity squares on us")
But As much as I like the tunes dennis co-wrote they don't stand up with the best of W2MN or brutal planet etc. They seem more "safe" rock and roll. Which is fine, I like it. But, you know....
I know alice and dennis have always been friends but its good to see they have rekindled it to some degree.
I just want more alice cooper music. Dennis or not, I usually like it :)

I also read the other day that Dennis suggested the eye makeup after seeing a circus poster or something. There was a photo of said poster and the eyes were the same as Alice.

Black Juju and Killer safe rock and roll? Sorry but I think everything Dennis wrote or co-wrote that I've heard blows away anything from W2MN and BP.

Agreed. That was a ludicrous statement.

School's Out is rich with Dennis' influence. A few of the songs are rooted on the bass line. Big fan here!

DD Rules!!
Need more & the rest of the ACG, really should get to work & strike while the iron is hot! HV coming up (I've read) So, gives some time to assemble material while they gig for the few shows they're scheduled for. Not something out of the norm - back in the day. ;)

His best work is on that album. Just wonderful playing.

I agree with both of the above comments. The intro to Gutter Cat vs The Jets. Also, Blue Turk, though DD didn't get a writing credit on it. Also - as has been discussed elsewhere in this Forum - there's the underlying bass part to My Stars which Michael Bruce supposedly wrote but Dennis did play it on the SO album.

The opening notes of Luney Tune (on bass) are as recognizable as the song School's Out, to fans.

Then there's the bass work on...gee the rest of the album. I always counted PFY, Killer and SO as the big Dennis records.

Dennis is a real talent and a true rock star.

He brought so much to the original band and I'm all for Dennis working with Alice as much as possible in any capacity.

DD is awesome! Truly underrated muso, nice Guy and great songwriter. Truly enjoying the tunes he had input on PARANORMAL.

Everybody who likes DD should check out 'Bones From The Yard' especially. Great album and features the original version of 'Runaway Train' (aka 'Subway')
