I think Larry acquitted himself pretty well on the album. I don't know much about him but I'm finding it odd that I can't find anything about him talking about the album. I can't even find a pic of him and Alice. Has anyone come across anything? Not looking for Alice's opinions.

Larry did fine, but the tracks where I really notice and dig the drums are the ones Neal played on.

Neal is a special drummer... and for someone I imagine hasn't played a ton over the last 40 years, he can still bring it BIG TIME. And coupled with Dennis, who's a great inventive player himself, they make up quite a rhythm section.

They are a big part of the reason the ACG was special.

I agree but it is very hard to hear Dennis bass on this album due to the mix.

Larry does fine when he is not trying to emulate another players style. Dead Flies and Fallen In Love have no swing at all which Buddy Miles and Frank Beard were remarkable with. I'm sure the songs were recorded to a click also though, so this may have been part of the issue.

Larry's drumming on Paranormal was surprising in a good way.

Personally I think he did an excellent job throughout. I don't see him copying anyone else's style, in fact the reason he was brought in was to give a newer, original drum sound so it would be very strange if he then started trying to emulate others!

His drums are excellent on this album. No complaints from me.

Dead Flies is a Jimi Hendrix ripoff of a song, and the drums copy Jimi's song Machine Gun which was played by Buddy Miles. Fallen In Love is a ZZ Top inspired song, and he tries to play like Frank Beard played on Tejas, but it is just terrible. Otherwise his drums are ok. He sounds like he was there getting paid, and he does the job but not aggresively or anything which a song like Private Public Breakdown really could have used.

Having listened to Larry Mullen's drumming on said tracks, I agree with Dadascot and While Heaven Wept. His drumming seems excellent to my ears.
