Been considering this for a bit.
"The Sound Of A" with a double "B" side (since it it the age of CD) with a
creatively edited version "Fireball" (making it collectable) & "Rats" would be awesome!!
All could fit on a 7" vinyl single.
Anyone @ e-a-r MUSIC following this topic? ;)

GAG would be a clear single - give that radio play on classic rock radio or whatever it is called and people would love it, a good hook with a melody line people will be humming for weeks

GAG may be too polarizing to release as a single unless a groundswell of activism latches on! :8):

I dont think it would, people wouldnt listen closely enough to it.
Like Poison, no one listened to the actual lyrics! it just a great tune with a killer hook.
GAG is not as good as poison (few singles are as good as that) but GAG would work well.

Oops waiting for the anti-poison brigade to attack!

I had to lock Mr Barlow in the attic.

Definitely should be Genuine American Girl with a pitch that includes the "social commentary" of the song.

I'm an expert at picking locks.....and pockets too!

I would say that there are literally a thousand singles better than Poison, however, Poison was a good song for Alice at that time in his career and over-all is better than most of the hair metal crap of that era.

I much prefer Genuine American Girl over Poison for many reasons, but most of all because it is a much better song!

Fireball. It's possibly the closest to sounding modern for rock radio.

Sorry, but GAG wouldn't do anything. It's a good song, but it's not fit for radio today.

its not right for "modern" radio - as it, or fireball (or anything else of paranormal) wouldnt do anything.
However if you get the right song on - total rock radio in the UK (is that the right name?) and whatever European/american equivalent is
it would go over very well with all the dad rock crowd who would go, "oh i remember Alice Cooper from the 70's, this sounds alright. Maybe i should buy an album"
(I mean ok, that might end up being a greatest hits from your local TESCO but better than nothing i suppose :) )

I just can't see any new AC on radio here in the states. You rarely get the old stuff.

No more singles of the album. Alice should go for the Led Zep high ground of not being a singles band. The main album is only 35 mins (very good though imnho)

Approximately 46 years late for that, I'm afraid. :(

I always thought those no singles bands were just incredibly pompous.

I think it was a pretty big screw up choosing PP as the single. It really is an album track. A single needs to be immediate and have impact. GAG, Fireball or Fallen In Love would have been much better choices.

Indeed..I have a very dry humour bordering on sarcasm at times

GAG has it strong points for various reasons (although the ACG connection probably only exists here ..)
but as suggested : Fallen in Love, being more a rock song, would probably more connect to Alice-Cooper as people know/remember him ? and it is a catchy tune too..

GAG has much more scope for a great video though.
