Already been posted but welcome back.
Re: The original version of Holy Water
Steve and Pitkin what do you them about this doing a cover but slightly rearranging it and adding their names to the song credits?

Alice has done this before as have many artists. I guess if all parties are happy about it I don't see a problem.
Re: The original version of Holy Water
At least this time most of the lyrics appears to be changed and not just a line or two.
"You, sir, are a demented, sick, degenerate, barbaric, naughty freako."

The singer Demi Demaree also did backing vocals on the reworked version and 'The Sound of A'.

Re: The original version of Holy Water
Does anyone else hear similarities to Buster Poindexter's (David Johanson) version Of "Who Threw The Whiskey In The Well"?
Which was also a cover.

I will admit it like it & wonder about those who don't.

The new Alice version of Holy Water is much better.

It's not hard to make a terrible song better. The song is so bad though that it just can't be made good.

I forget that if I was a super fan and understood Alice like the rest of you, I would have the "right" opinion.dadascot wrote:WRONGguttertrash wrote:It's not hard to make a terrible song better. The song is so bad though that it just can't be made good.
Re: The original version of Holy Water
Well if you have read some of my previous posts you will see that I regularly criticise some of Alice's decisions so the 'superfan' dig is WRONG! But you stated 'the song is so bad ..it can't be made good' I think that the song is really good, as do plenty of others on here, that is my opinion! But in all your posts, which are mainly digs at Bob Ezrin, you state your opinions as facts. All musical taste is subjective.guttertrash wrote:I forget that if I was a super fan and understood Alice like the rest of you, I would have the "right" opinion.dadascot wrote:WRONGguttertrash wrote:It's not hard to make a terrible song better. Re: The original version of Holy Water
Agreed. It is subjective. I state my thoughts which are opinions. Mainstream, modern digital production is killing music as an art. Ezrin and Rubin are both perpetrators in this. From what I hear, they both started off young and hungry, and the art of it all has waned for both of them, and their production has become status quo. If others disagree, so be it, but in my opinion, Alice's music would work better with somebody who doesn't buy into the mainstream logic. I would also assume that when speaking of subjectives, it would be understood that it is opinion.

Personally, I really like Holy Water. I consider it to be the highlight of the album.

Alice and Ezrin did this same exact thing with a song called 'Escape'.

It doesn't sound different enough to my ears to warrant a writing credit, but whatever.
I wouldn't say I hate it but equally I will never choose to play it ever again.....
the only song on the new album I do not like.

Actually quite different in terms of lyrics and arrangement. The first part sounds the same but the original goes off in weird directions after that, I stopped listening, didn't like it. Alice improved the strong, streamlined it.Saint&Sinner wrote:It doesn't sound different enough to my ears to warrant a writing credit, but whatever.
