Did Alice ever appear on this show and if not, why not? (given the band/he had hits)

From recoop:
"Did Alice ever appear on this show"

No.

>and if not, why not? (given the band/he had hits)

I think it was probably because neither he nor the band were ever asked to.

Not that I recall, no.

Bearing in mind that to my knowledge the show was never shown over here, I must admit that until I just looked it up I assumed it was was basically a soul/disco and pop show, but according to Wiki it was more broad then that with appearances by Aerosmith and PiL.

As to why not, maybe schedules just never lined up, as is the case I believe with things like Saturday Night Live (back in the 70s anyway).

Thanks both for the two individual replies- I suppose I am wondering why Alice Cooper would not be invited. I don't know too much about this programme but I believe Kiss have appeared on it. Maybe from 1971 to 1973 when AC were scoring in the charts it was felt that AC were not sufficiently wholesome (only a guess). I wonder if AC management did any lobbying to get them on the programme. I guess we will never know. At least he was never on performing No More Love at your Convenience.

KISS was never on American Bandstand, though they did perform, for some reason, on the 50th anniversary special for the show. They did perform on Dick Clark's In Concert in 1974, but that was a different show.

Most (all?) of the acts on American Bandstand simply lip-synced their songs.

Thanks Hunter

While on subject of Kiss, you might have a laugh at this clip of American Bandstand dancers getting into Shout it Out Loud (no group presence)

:) :)

I always wondered if the dancers were really dancing to the song being played. You'd never know from watching it. :)

Good point-based on my attempts at dancing in the 70s, I would say none of my dancing was ever to the music. Bluffer dancers like me were highlighted when disco and dances with prescribed steps became fashionable with Saturday Night Fever. Some good bluffers in the AB video with funky chicken type arm movements-Just a shame Kiss hadn't been there to complete the embarrassment.
