I saw a screening of Supermensch in LA where Shep was doing a Q&A and someone asked why the film didn't have the whole truth regarding the Zappa years, and SHep laughed and said they couldn't put it in the film due to legal reasons, but basically said that Alice Cooper were pretty much a tax right off for Straight, and if they had a hit record, they'd have to pay them (this was a few years ago, so my paraphrasing may be off). The film made it seem like Zappa just didn't want them to work with a mainstream producer because they were avant garde, but the real reason was the cash.

IMHO Alice's best albums were the ACG albums with Ezrin involved and MOL.mr.barlow wrote:I agree completely! It's no coincidence that Alice's best albums were the ones with Ezrin involved.

I found this book today in Waterstones, at £20.99, it stayed there.
