As Bad As I Am

Post by mr.barlow » Tue Feb 16, 2016 6:51 pm

If The Hollywood Vampires or solo Alice could release an album of this type of material it could lead to a very-late career resurgence. What the song lacks in quality lyrics it makes up for with energy and passion.

The Grammy performance was fine and now they have some buzz and momentum. It would be wise to ditch the whole cover songs premise and release a complete album of original material.

Not much about Alice has really got my attention in years---this one song really woke me up---this song to me has a Special Forces era vibe to it. Alice with real energy and passion! Let's hope it continues.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well the song transferred to the live performance at The Grammys. Maybe they do know what they're doing after all :-)

The Hollywood Vampires ROCKED the Grammys! The heaviest performance of the night! As Bad As I Am is a great new tune & an awesome choice matched with Ace Of Spades.
Lemmy would have smiled at the effort!!

It's a Guns N Roses/Motley Crue cast-off; a load of old cobblers.

A great live song. I now place a HV album in second place on my wish list, below an original group album and above a solo Alice album. It helps for Alice to have others writing music along with him (music, not lyrics, Alice can handle lyrics). Depp has proven he can write a solid song.

I think its good Alice is not writing as he is getting a bit predictable and it at least takes him somewhere a bit different.

They're all saying Depp wrote it, but I'm not sure we know the exact credits.

Just heard the recorded version and I prefer it to the live Grammys version (not surprising although the live version was pretty good for me)- I have said elsewhere that I am not keen on the lyrics but it hangs together as a song so overall a plus

I thought 'As Bad As I Am' came over very well at The Grammys - especially with the stage set and effects too. The playing was great but Cooper's voice these days sounds strained and hoarse..it seems to have lost that warmth and texture.

Another thing - is the lead vocal in 'Ace of Spades' really so high for Alice that Duff needs to sing it with Alice going an octave lower?? :/

I thought Alice sounded as good as ever. I hope the new Hollywood Vampires album is original material this time though.

Yes, Ace of Spades is extremely difficult to sing. I was really scared. I think it sounded nice that way, If Alice would've attempted to sing it the way it is.... What a mess for anyone who dares!
