Meet and Greet VIP - Getting on stage

Post by ConstrictorRules » Mon Dec 07, 2015 3:25 pm

Hey there! I am considering the VIP tickets for an upcoming concert...even though the dollar exchange is KILLING ME here in Canada!

Anyway, I noticed that the package says there is a chance a VIP could be chosen to be part of the show. Has this even happened to anyone AND does it actually happen at each show? Any other details of what this entails and tips on how to become the one who is chosen would be great!

Thanks!

The person(s) chosen to go on stage help throw the balloons out during "School's Out." I've seen people who have been selected for that. AFAIK, there's no way to influence who gets chosen.

From ContrictorRules:"tips on how to become the one who is chosen would be great!"

It is a completely random choice.

Thanks for the info guys!

So I guess it generally does happen at most concerts? I kind of wondered if it only happened at the occasional venue or something.

What is the person who is chosen doing during the show? Do they get to watch from back stage? That'd be sweet.

As far as I know it happens at all shows that offer VIP passes.

If chosen, when you collect your VIP pass you will have something in there telling you that you've won.

You watch the show as normal, and then head to a pre-stated location near the end of the set. Someone will be waiting there to escort you onto the stage and tell you what to do.

The only way to fairly enhance your chances of being chosen is to try and select a show that will have less ViP tickets sold. Easier said than done but there have been instances in the past where only 1 person paid for said experience.

Doesn't look like that will be the case where I'll be seeing him. But, a 1 in 10 or so shot isn't horrible either.

Last time i got a VIP the person who won was in a wheelchair and didn't go on stage, but they didn't pick someone else to go, which i thought was a bit naff.

They probably didn`t even know about the chair until after the show was over.

The "winner" is random. The staff likely didn`t know that random VIP was in a wheelchair.
Assuming the person arrived at the designated place on time, getting a chair on stage(stairs etc) and being able to do the balloons could have been a problem. By then it would be too late to pull someone else out of the crowd to do it instead.
I don't *know* what happened but that would be my guess.

In June of 2012 when I won the VIP onstage experience, there were only 2 people who bought the VIP experience so me and one other...a 50/50 shot...but even cooler was instead of some random room, we actually got to go into his dressing room and hang out for quite awhile...it was AWESOME!!!!!

That sounds like a pretty sweet experience! How much time were you with Alice? Other band members around, too?

I put down the big money last night, so I'm officially in for the experience now! I'll make sure to report back how everything went.

I was on stage to throw out the balloons in Plymouth. Great experience but nerve racking too! All those people who are NOT looking at you but even so! Once you have thrown out the balloons you leave the stage - so staying around backstage.

Thanks for your testimonials about your Meet and Greet VIP experiences. Those Meet and Greet experiences are all differents depending of the artist you meet. As an example, I know from a very reliable source, that some Meet and Greets with Lemmy was not really previously organized. I'm not talking of his debut time, but not so long ago. His entourage would go down in the audience, before show, or during, and pick up some fans for a Meet and Greet, after the show. Not randomly, but the fans had to meet some criteria. So, just like that, no extra money or tickets, no social medias, no web sites, etc... So, it varies from an artist to another.

Sometimes all you have to do is hang around the backstage door(if allowed) after the show & with a little luck they'll let you in. I met The Jam that way. :8):

I was just talking about what I saw in a documentary about Lemmy on a music channel we have here, Musimax.

we met Maiden just from hanging about outside the city hall a good few years back. Wolfsbane were support and Blaze had hanging about chatting and having a laugh and they ended up opening the side doors and lining us up in alternate rows, so the guys had empty rows to walk along. had a good bit crack on and got siggys etc, Bruce looked at Blaze and was "don't i know you?" "yeah, i'm in the support act!" etc :-D
