Hollywood Vampires thanking list...
In the Hollywood Vampires' album booklet, there is a list of people they thank. Family of course, friends, management, musicians involved... Marilyn Manson is on the list for of course he sang with them, though he didn't make into this album... BUT! There is another name that caught my eye and almost took away my heart. If you look for it, Patti Smith is named on the booklet!!
Now, I don't know about you but I've always dreamed of Patti and Alice collaboration. After I heard about the "Raise the Dead" project, I remember telling my fiancee about this dream of Cooper and Smith doing a song together, maybe one for Patti's husband or Jim Carroll and the song "People who died" which was just perfect for the project IMO.
Back in topic. Does anyone know anything about the reason of her naming in the album? Why is Smith there!?
Now sickthings, Come and tell us!

Should have been Neal Smith. Typo.

Re: Hollywood Vampires thanking list...
It would be weird to include a misspelled Neal and not Dennis at all though
Re: Hollywood Vampires thanking list...
I've been a big Patti Smith fan for forty years, ever since the brilliant 'Horses' album was released. A collaboration would, potentially, be very interesting.Lucius Morthem wrote:Now, I don't know about you but I've always dreamed of Patti and Alice collaboration.

I really feel they have nothing in common musically and her voice is horrible. No more collaborations unless its with MB DD and NS.

I agree completely.pitkin88 wrote:I really feel they have nothing in common musically and her voice is horrible. No more collaborations unless its with MB DD and NS.

Patti about Alice : "Alice Cooper doesn't deserve to stay in rock and roll".
And also I have a vague remembrance of her throwing David Cassidy together with Alice Cooper out of one of her birthday parties...I don't think they will make a good duo.
And I'm a Patti Smith fan also.

From Mr.Skull:
"Patti about Alice : "Alice Cooper doesn't deserve to stay in rock and roll"."
She said that in 1977 or so - you really shouldn't take things so seriously. I have a picture of her where it looks like she's pretending to slap him as well.

You also wrote "I don't think they will make a good duo.", so your meaning wasn't that clear.

1st: I didn't know about Patti's conflicts with Alice TOUGH if it was in that era... I'd probably understand her
2nd: Saying her voice is horrible is a stupid, yes stupid, thing to say. Alice's voice is not a mermaid's niether.
3rd: AMUK I Need to see that picture!
4th: Problems or not problems SHE IS THANKED ON THE ALBUM!

From Lucius Morthem:

My guess is that it was Johnny Depp who came up with the idea.

Her comments at the time typified how many people were viewing Alice.
Re: Hollywood Vampires thanking list...
I would suggest that she was asked to contribute to the album and agreed, but either the track didn`t make the album, or scheduling preventing it happening.A_MichaelUK wrote:From Lucius Morthem:

I concur. JD and PS have been friends for quite a few years. They've performed on stage together, and he played guitar and drums on the title track of her most recent album, 'Banga'. In lieu of a birthday gift, PS also wrote the song 'Nine' for JD (his birthday is on June 9th).Si wrote:I would suggest that she was asked to contribute to the album and agreed, but either the track didn`t make the album, or scheduling preventing it happening.A_MichaelUK wrote: My guess is that it was Johnny Depp who came up with the idea.
As for her 'Alice doesn't deserve to stay in rock 'n' roll' jibe, well I thought exactly the same after hearing 'Lace & Whiskey'!

Maybe Alice can record a duet with David Cassidy.Mr. Skull wrote:Patti about Alice : "Alice Cooper doesn't deserve to stay in rock and roll".

I played Pretty Ballerina to some friends without telling them who was singing. Someone guessed David Cassidy!!
