Re: Live stream for the show tonight
I watched, to see if it could be worse than the actual album; it was.
Alice was struggling at times, whilst the band were channelling Spinal Tap. Turning 'Cold Turkey' into a metal knees-up wasn't a good move, and was 'Whole Lotta Love' supposed to be a comedy turn?
Everybody else obviously enjoyed it, but I prefer the 100 Club garage-rock.

I like the opening visually and RTD sounds better live. The tiny bit of Christopher Lee works much better. 7 & 7 is good but that drummer has no idea how to play it. I'm A Boy is horrible. Not something that I'd want to see live.
Hey amuk how many people went to the bathroom when they played RTD?

Who said no new songs are ever played? Three songs from "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" were played when that album was released.

How is that even a logical question, when he was on a different continent from the show?pitkin88 wrote:A_MichaelUK wrote:From pitkin88:

Am I alone in thinking 7 and 7 is a wee nod to the die hards for appreciating Alice doing something different that he wants to do?

[quote="Dannorama"]It's always great to see Alice in command of a huge crowd.
where they expecting such a huge crowd ? any idea how many people attended this show ?
Was it the only act of the evening ? If it was, then this crowd might be an invitation for this band to on , at least for a while , no ?

It's one of the biggest festivals in the world and there are always multiple bands on the bill each day.patrick wrote: where they expecting such a huge crowd ? any idea how many people attended this show ?

Queens of the Stone Age and System of a Down played after. SOAD was the headliner.

The fireworks before the set were epic.NotSoPerfect wrote:And Tommy mentioned in a post that the size was 90,000+.
I'm not a big festival guy, but that would be a blast to experience something like that once.

I wasn't there - in the same way that you haven't been to any Alice shows for ten years or so, so you don't know what goes on there either.

You probably are - it is a tribute to two of the members of Love which Alice was a big fan of.

I was making a point that you don't have to just play the hits. Crowd seemed very happy for a relatively unknown new song. Doubt there was a rush to the bog.
Re: Live stream for the show tonight
But your point, in this case, was silly as RTD was the first three minutes of the show. No one is going to go to a show and leave 90 seconds after it starts because they don`t know the first song, especially at a festival, and with a band featuring the guys in the HV.pitkin88 wrote:A_MichaelUK wrote:From pitkin88:

For what it's worth I actually agree that AC could put more "rare" songs in the show without problems. It's just this example doesn`t prove anything.

By the way, the fireworks on the Dime version go on like that for at least 10 minutes

You and him are taking it too literal. The bog thing was something Amuk alluded to years ago. My point is if the show is good the fans will like anyway. They wont leave if they dont know the odd song or two. The reaction to all the songs here was great. If Alice has the spectacle he doesn't need to keep playing the same stale old stuff. He can certainly throw away the crutch, live a lttle more dangerously and mix it up a bit more.
