Don't hate Rhino, Warners bought them years ago & opened up the archives for Rhino to make selections to reissue & resell to those who missed out.Keith1980 wrote: I Hate you rhino

Re: 15 disc boxset coming out. Alice Cooper 1969-1983
Think about it, would there be a better time to drop the a 15 disc boxset than now? AC is touring with MC & reports say he kills every night. That's a whole "New" audience, who may or may not know of The Masters' greatness. People here have most of the catalogue - only completists will open their wallets for this unless some Remastering & Rare goodies are included. When if not now?

I don't know about the timing. The old, older and oldest fans have most or all of this material in this format, many times over. New fans don't consume cds like they did 10-20 years ago. In my estimation the timing is completely off.
Make each disc a double cd with era appropriate outtakes/demos and live material, then you may have something interesting.
Just another legacy catalogue fail

I agree with Toronto Bob on this one.

OK, a WB money grab which it is (was) all along w/o extras of NO interest. I don't disagree.

To be fair though.... at least this is an affordable way for a new listener to get the classic albums
Re: 15 disc boxset coming out. Alice Cooper 1969-1983
If they can afford to drop $100 in one shot that is. Pointless release really.

Not a bad price at all, they just didn't maximize the opportunity, this comes years late. There was a time that many of those titles were difficult to find on cd (at least in Canada) like FTI, FtF, SF, ZCS, and DaDa. I had to purchase them at inflated imported prices. Could of used this box set back then. Alas whoever is in charge of the AC catalogue, hasn't a clue how to properly service his fan base. Likely a contributing reason for the shrinking size of it.While Heaven Wept wrote:To be fair though.... at least this is an affordable way for a new listener to get the classic albums

It's not limited to Alice's catalog, of course. The same is true for just about all of classic rock artists. Witness the seemingly-dozens of pointless KISS compilations and sets that have been released over the years. They don't know what else to do with the catalog, so every couple of years, they'll issue a box or throw some tracks (often the same old tracks) into a different order, give it a fancy name, and call it something new.Toronto Bob wrote:Alas whoever is in charge of the AC catalogue, hasn't a clue how to properly service his fan base. It's my opinion that the best way to market the entire WB catalog would be for a special release of all of the albums with direct input from the original band members in the case of the original band releases, and the important musicians and songwriters of the solo releases, and of course Ezrin on the releases which he produced.
All of the albums could contain outtakes, unreleased tracks, etc where they are available along with a track by track breakdown of each song. Involve everybody and gather all of their recollections, anecdotes and stories in relation to writing and recording each album. Each album could contain a booklet which would contain all of this info along with production notes and other relevant materials. Let nothing go unturned or unanswered.
Also each album could contain a dvd of interviews with those involved and any promotional videos, live cuts, etc that were issued in relation to each album.
WB could then produce these in a very limited release and market them directly to hardcore fans. They would NOT be sold cheap.
This would be a great gesture to the lifelong and hardcore fans and I'm sure they would sell if they did it in a very limited release. It would be a major undertaking but I think that everyone involved would be happy to participate--especially those who were involved from 1980-1983.
But--I think the only thing we will ever see will be releases like this box set.

A somewhat 'what's the point?' release, but they chose the perfect place to terminate the volume, just before the poodle hair years came in.

From Paulimo:
"they chose the perfect place to terminate the volume, just before the poodle hair years came in."
This covers material owned by Warner Brothers only.

Still $100 is not a horribly bad price for the set. Less than I would have had to pay to see A.C. & Motley Crue. I may have had a hard time staying past intermission!

According to this article:
http://www.musictap.net/2015/06/16/alic ... 1969-1983/
"All of the albums are from the 2011 Japanese remasters with the exception of Pretties For You, Welcome To My Nightmare, Flush The Fashion, Special Forces, Zipper Catches Skin, and DaDa, who have no remastering year listed."
