I can't think of any AC music that seems influenced by the MONKEES. Isn't this supposed to be a tribute to his influences?

Don't Blow Your Mind and No Price Tag kinda sound like a bargain basement version of The Monkees

Like Paul said, Micky Dolenz is still touring and his voice still sounds great. He was also a creative drummer, not great technically, but did a nice job on The Monkees' songs he played on. Maybe he will appear on Alice's album, who knows?

Did he play on any of the hits?

He wrote, played drums on and sang Alternate Title (or Randy Scouse Git as it was titled in the US) which was a number 2 hit single in the UK. It wasn't released as a single in the US.

Why do you say this if you haven't heard it? If it is a studio recording it should be of interest especially if Neal and Dennis are on there. If it is a live cut then I am with you.

Just that out of all the songs on the album surely another version of SO is the least interesting?

Not saying is is of NO interest, but we have heard Neal and Dennis (if they are on that track) play SO a million times. Would rather hear something "new".

Of course they are aiming to build up some momentum for the album so aren`t going to wheel out the "big names" straight away when whatever he plays will be on Youtube within the hour.

I still don`t recall where it was stated Neal is on it at all. Someone just seemed to assume as Dennis said he recorded something that Neal would be on it as well. Could just be me not remembering though.

Sounds similar to the current live version to be honest, but with Johnson singing the second verse and chorus with AC. Not quite the same arrangement, but with the same bit of "brick" included in the middle.
