From pitkin88:
"Does anyone know who chose the songs? Was it the committee of 3 Alice, Ezrin and Depp?2

Yes, I think so, with maybe some input from Joe Perry as well (which may explain why a song by Spirit is included, but I'm not sure).

Whole Lotta Love: http://goo.gl/uY1mqT

Great intro, followed by a load of blustering, bludgeoning, (Briansquawk) bollocks. IMO.

I think this is the best song by far. It's suited to Brians vocals, Alice is sneering quite a bit and the solos actually fit!!

Alice is credited with the harmonica part which sounds great!

I feared for this song, but I thought it was rockin- would have preferred a bombastic ending but that is being picky- think the two voices worked well and music was given a different treatment which made it sound fresh to me

I'm thinking this is the most agreed upon song so far. Yes great harmonica and as Recoop said fresh sounding. It could easily have been a dirge.

As far as Whole Lotta Love... Let's not forget Zep had to pay Willie Dixon & credit him (eventually) for this tune. Zep was a Heavy Blues band & changed Rock history in the process. So, it's actually a cover of a cover. :bam:

I'm looking forward to the Alice/Manson song on the next album. I've wanted them to do something together for many years.

Yes, we did know that some time ago, BUT we didn`t have the musician info so thanks for spotting that.

So if we pre-ordered the $60 package from Pledge Music (cd, 2 vinyl, and digital download), will the items arrive on September 11 or will they be shipped that day and arrive the following week?

Looking forward to this album from what I've heard so far. If Alice's next album is in line with the vibe of my Dead Drunk Friends, I think it will be a real treat for fans. I know he has been getting some flack for this project, but paying tribute to his friends who have passed away seems like it really means a lot to him. I also love the fact that a lot of these songs will really educate today's generation of rock fans about the classics they may not have heard of without this album. I also really like how he structured it, with the intro by the late Christopher Lee to lead into all of the covers and finish it with an original track that ties it all together. I think it will have a lot more heart than a typical covers album. Can't wait until Friday!

I was pretty excited when I first heard of this project, as tribute albums tend to be letdowns in general. The concept of Hollywood Vampires was pretty interesting, and the focus alone was enough to make this one something to look forward to. I assumed these covers would be handled with a bit of class, and creativity. What I'm hearing instead is a big, loud, brash, 1980's party style album. Nothing wrong with that at all. I hope it does well.. I'm sure the artists had a blast making it.. Just not at all what I was expecting. It has a very Sammy Hagar / Van Halen party machine flavor. Big Dumb Fun.. Not my thing.
