Neal Smith has stated that no one but Dennis played bass on any ACG albums.

Ted

Can someone chime in?

The way I remember it from interviews is that Michael Bruce wrote the bass part for My Stars while Dennis was sick and then Dennis played the same thing on the recording.

Good memory.
I just asked Dennis:I was in the hospital while the song was being created so MB played bass in my absence. I used most of his ideas but it's me on the recording.

Dennis Dunaway I played my own bass parts on every original Alice Cooper group track except "Living" and "Mary Ann" which had no bass. Bob was a key part in making my bass sound great, including on the Hollywood Vampires version of "School's Out."

Does 'living' have no bass? I'll have to listen to that one again. If so its a strange song to decide it doesn't require a bassline. Please excuse my cloth ears but I'd never noticed.

Just listening to it now and there's definitely a bass in there. So if Dennis didn't play it who did?

Dennis said the answer is in his book.

Stacanova wrote: I wished Dennis would have talked a bit more about the Battle Axe album, that is still a great record and had Alice returned after "Welcome to my Nightmare" and participated, I think it would have been huge and seen as a return to form by Alice Cooper. When you listen to a song like "Too Young" and hear Dennis and Neal's syncopated rhythms under the chorus and realize how special and unique it was and still is, it makes you long for a proper reissue. Or a song like "wasn't I the one" and imagine a twist or two in the lyric from Alice and how great of an Alice Cooper song it might have been?
My only real disappointment with this otherwise excellent book was that he didn't cover the years of 75, 76 and 77 in more depth. I was hoping to hear a track by track discussion of Battle Axe. I think Dennis is great and I tend to side with him and his take on things, but I do wonder: Why didn't the rest of the band grind it out a bit harder: tour whatever venues they could fill, even if they were small. Punk music was the rage, and they were the original punks. Imagine them touring and trying to rebuild the rest of the band into something new.

I still wonder what they all did instead.

I liked the book but thought there would be a lot more detail on the "break up" then there was.

I guess Dennis decided to let guy bonds be bygones and turn the other cheeky...

Ah but this is a veritable mansion of a website, full of antiquities to preserve.

Mine is a 2-bedroom flat which just needs a few walls painting.

Hey SI, this is, without a doubt, the best Alice website in the world! Phenomenal job.

Not only the best Alice site but probably the best website devoted to a group/ musician full stop!
