Mastered for iTunes

Post by Dannorama » Sat Apr 25, 2015 11:37 am

What about the catalog being Mastered for iTunes? Also, on the iTunes side of things, why not a dedicated home page for Alice? Seems like both would boost sales.

I am hoping that this will happen. I'll bet a lot of new people would be more interested in exploring the catalog if either (or both) happened.

Thoughts? Insight?

Any boost would be minor and not generate much revenue.

In a hypothetical world I'd love to see that. Especially for "Welcome 2 My Nightmare." The compression is really noticeable on it vs. the CD version.

From Dannorama:
"What about the catalog being Mastered for iTunes?"

Apparently, Pono has the highest possible resolution files (and it has a lot of Alice Cooper tracks on it) but apparently the benefit of that has been refuted.

The greatest hits album is the only album with the highest resolution(192/24)
Then comes WTMN + B$B and after that it's just a little better then mp3. I'm talking about HIGH RES files in case you wonder.

There have been reviews suggesting that the there isn't an overwhelming difference like Pono was suggesting. Not that Pono wasn't doing what it was supposed to do on its own right, but just not that it's a huge leap in audio fidelity either compared to other players. Also with the increasing "Mastered for iTunes" re-releases the A/B comparisons and differences become even more negligible.
