I think it could be a good one as well. Remember how he sang 'Because'?
Now imagine that with the lyrics:
Eleanor Rigby, died in the church
And was buried along with her name
Nobody came

As much as I enjoy "BECAUSE" , it's one of those tracks that I find a bit " underwhelming " , as he really only does the "ALICE talking / sort of singing" .....
And it's not exactly chock- full of lyrics ........
that's what crossed my mind when I saw ELEANOR RIGBY , thigh it's much more of a story-song
. A slight fear that it would be another " talk / sing " again......
... Fingers crossed for just plain old singing in ANY one of his voices ....but not just talking ... (That's 3 times I've said that ) ..

Alice could easily do Eleanor Rigby in the same voice style and tone as Former Lee Warmer, and his snarly creepy voice would be perfect for it.

Yeah , the FORMER LEE WARMER voice could work really well ...
Or go all out and do a "PICK UP THE BONES" epic version ..

The Cure video clearly shows them playing their instruments which would be odd if McCartney's band played the music.
"Golly gee it's wrong to be so guilty..."

I think a 'former lee warmer ' version would be perfect. I'm not a big Beatles fan but ER is one of my favourites of theirs. I have a who covers album and Bowies version of 'pictures of Lilly' was a stand out because he 'bowiefied' (how's that for a made up word?) it!, I hope coop does the same although I didn't like his version of because!

Well, it wasn't really "his version". It was produced by George Martin who produced the original as you probably know and the arrangements are similar. Both songs by The Beatles which Alice has recorded (the other being "Hey Bulldog") are close to the originals.

this cannot be a coincidence any more : Former lee was precisely the tune i had in mind, especially after the text snips that Si mentioned...
you really wouldn't understand..
Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute
Ive always felt that HEY BULLDOG was a bit of a disappointment ....
ALICE has done some great " rrrrrrawk" vocals in recent years , but that ain't one of them .....
I'm certain ERZIN , MARLETTE , etc wouldn't have let that rather average vocal go on an album , ....
......which gives the impression that the BUTCHERING album was a typical " cheapie " , done in an afternoon recording : despite the talent involved .( Vai , etc )
Obviously the MACCA project is quite a different big-budget affair , and im genuinely looking forward to hearing what they've come up with .....
MACCA's band ? So who's producing ?? I must Check that out .....( is it RALPH SALL ? )
Here's Alice's page on the MACCA CD website

Sure would be great if he can still sing (scream) like he did on Baba O'Riley!philouze wrote:Looking forward to hearing Daltrey's Helter Skelter..

I'm more interested in hearing him sing Smile Away.
