"comes in 327 formats"
that's got to be a joke?

Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute
Does this make it more or less likely that Macca is on the 'new' covers album?
Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute
since Paul doesn't seem to be singing this songs together with Alice I would say : more
Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute
Well, Nights With Alice Coopers facebook page just commented that "The secret is out! Now we know why Alice Cooper was hitting the studio with Paul McCartney a few months ago!" about the Art of Mcartney news. So it seems like them working together was for this project.

I really hope this isn't what Joe Perry was talking about. I was really excited about the idea of Paul being on Alice's album.

From Swinger:
"So it seems like them working together was for this project."
I don't think their information was accurate.

Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute
My understanding is that the band for all these songs is Paul McCartney's band.
For example, KISS is not playing on this, just doing the vocals.
So therefore, Joe Perry would not be playing.
Perhaps NWAC is purposely throwing up a smoke screen so that it's again a surprise when Paul appears on Alice's album.
By the way, this album has been in the works for years. I remember hearing about KISS' involvement 3 or 4 years ago.

I wouldn't exactly rely on the NWAC info.

I wonder why precisely this song (not that I don't like it).
Would Alice have had any say in this ?
I saw the Cure performing their song: imo they added nothing that would me make thinking it was them that sang it..To express it in a positive way, very faithfull to the original...
Curious to find out if Alice will Cooperize it..

you really wouldn't understand..

I thought the Robert Smith/James McC version of 'Hello Goodbye' was utterly redundant. They don't add (or even subtract) anything magical to the original, and it limps to an inglorious end. Karaoke Cure.
Dylan, potentially growling his way through 'Things We Said Today', is a fascinating prospect, whilst Dion is certainly an inspiring left field choice. On the other hand, schlockmeisters Joel, Lynne and Cullum, plus second-rate 'has beens' (or 'never weres') like Heart, Def Leppard and Kiss don't exactly set my pulse racing. We'll see.
'Eleanor Rigby' is definitely an intriguing choice for Alice though; it'll be interesting whether he goes down the chamber-pop route, or lets it rawk.
Here's a couple of very different, very good, 'ER' covers, which demonstrates what can be achieved with a bit of artistic flair:

This is the problem with projects such as this.concolz wrote: Dylan, potentially growling his way through 'Things We Said Today', is a fascinating prospect, whilst Dion is certainly an inspiring left field choice. Personally I have zero interest in 'Joel, Lynne and Cullum' but would be more interested in hearing the 'has beens'. I don`t claim to be a huge fan of any of them, at least not of anything they have done in around 20+ years, but at least they were good once
Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute
These projects are usually pretty pedestrian , and only rarely do they have much re- listen- ability .....
That's why something like KATE BUSH having a go at ROCKET MAN stands out from the crowd so much ...
And also DWIGHT YOAKEM's version of THINGS WE SAID TO BE is also a benchmark in doing a cover ..
But it's still great to see ALICE involved ...
Intrigued that he doesn't do a rocker.......
ELEANOR RIGBY ? Great song , really interested to see what they choose to do with it ....

Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute
I think Eleanor Rigby is a good choice for Alice given the story and the mood of the lyrics. I think he can put some more character on something like that rather than a straight pop/rock song like "Hello, Goodbye". I'm hoping he/they choose to something a bit different with it music/arrangement-wise but it certainly got potenial at least.
