It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow I have to let you know that Dick Wagner has left this world. Dick had a huge heart, which is perhaps why it gave him so much trouble, it was simply too full of love, of music and life. His creativity and passion will live on forever in the legacy he has left for us, in his music and his words. We have so much of him to celebrate. Dick was prolific not only in the tangible realm of what we can see and hear but in the boundless energy of his spirit, which will never die. He was a fighter, but in the end his body couldn’t keep up with his spirit, and so he lays to rest. Dick said in 2013, “Love is in the air. Breathe deep.” Take Dick’s advice into your own hearts, and notice all of the beauty in the world, even when it seems cruel and unfair.

Sad news.

He has left an indelible mark on the world of rock, some of the coolest riffs emanated from those finger tips. Dick Wagner will be missed.

We can certainly agree on that TB.

Dick will be missed... the music he made will live on.

Having bought his autobiography last year , I'd really grown to love ( and understand) Dick Wagner so much more ......

What a phenomenal guitar player ,and melodic & gutsy songwriter ....

We've had 40 years of living with , and enjoying, those beautiful solos and riffs .....and they haven't dated one bit.....

Sad news. I've posted on Facebook but here it feels more appropriate somehow.

WTMN, the album and the show on VHS (back then) were my first live experiences with Alice (even though only on TV). They will forever be linked to my first memories of seeing Alice on stage and discovering this world that matched mine so well.

I don't know how many times I've watched it until I found other video materials (that was an age before the internet) and then proceeded to discover the original band. Good memories.

May he rest in peace. Alice gave the words while Dick gave the music to the best of the best of Alice's solo career. I truly believe if it were not for Dick Wagner there would have never been a successful solo Alice.

To me his greatest gift to the world was "Dada". A work of sheer genius and originality. He was and always will be the greatest guitar player to ever work with Alice and one of the greatest to ever pick up the instrument.

He left the world a better place and made millions of people happy with his songwriting, playing and talent, and as long as people have ears he will continue to do so. There's no better legacy than that!

Ohhhhh man, I'm bummed out. I met him last year at a book signing. He gave a free mini concert before the signing and told stories behind the songs too and then signed the book, a few records and a CD for me. RIP bro! :(

We had Dick on our show twice. Once to discuss his life and career and once to break down DaDa track-by-track a few months ago. Here's a piece I wrote this evening that has my memories of him and links to both episodes if you'd like to listen. I'm going to miss him.

very sad news but Dick Wagner made his mark on the world as one of the great guitar players and part of that great guitar team with Steve Hunter that transformed the sound of Lou Reed and went on to the help create one of Alice Cooper's high points in the Welcome To My Nightmare album and show.

A great co writer and guitarist his solos on My Stars, King Of The Silver Screen and Jackknife Johnny are fine examples of a maestro at work.

Was a pleasure to have been in communication with the great man for several years and he always took the time to give encouragement to musicians like me who loved his playing.

RIP Dick

Rest in peace. An exceptional guitarist and songwriter. I believe he had a big influence on many guitarists in the 70s and his style was totally unique.

I'll always remember him for those passionate and emotional solos... a great example that sometimes even the simplest and slowest melodic lines can be the most powerful.

Now more than ever, I want to see Alice incorporate Might As Well Be On Mars Live...one of the most brilliant songs ever created and Wagner had his hand in it...
