Not bad. Kind of a CARNIVAL OF SOULS ambiance to it.
Not as painful as Lita Ford's version at least.

Well I quite liked it! I'd love to hear 'OWB' played on the mighty pipe organ in St Paul's, with the cathedral choir providing the oohs and aahs backing.

There have been some truly terrible covers of the song over the years. Julie Covington's UK hit sounded like it was being sung by one of the Stepford Wives, whilst Tina Turner went the opposite way with shrieking histrionics. For me, the most laughably inept, though, would be the Guns N' Roses live version.

Etta James and Carmen McCrae recorded two snazzy, jazzily soulful versions, but it's kind of apt that the best I've come across - apart from Alice's own - is a live rendition by Dick Wagner from 1997. It's majestic.

Ths is in my opinion the best ever recorded OWB. I never heard of Chris Farlowe before but stumbled on this record in the record store back in the day when it was released in 1976. It's my all time favorite OWB with "such power and dignity"

Chris also did the vocals for Atomic Rooster and did the better songs on Jimmy Page's OUTRIDER (1988).

I always liked the Glenn Hughes version on Humanary Stew.
