Re: Live at wacken
I'll hazard a guess that the book will be a glossy blown up version of the booklet that comes with the standard version. A total guess but there's some really good pics in it so it would make sense.

I bought the Blu-ray package, which came with the audio CDs. Fantastic picture quality, amazing performance, and great audio. Highly recommended!

Re: Live at wacken
I concur. Well shot, sounds great! The band is tight and hits all the marks. Slight issue with Direction/editing. Are 5 second edits all that necessary? Full shots of the stage lasted longer than many angles on the players. I'd like to see some more finger work on the frets & strings than the tight chest & head shots that were used. Cameras stayed on Drum solo longer but that might have been because Chuck & Glen were the only 2 on stage. Great show and I loved how the show started at Sunset to progress to the full night light show.SickThings wrote:I bought the Blu-ray package, which came with the audio CDs. Re: Live at wacken
I may the only voice of dissent here, but this is not my fav Alice Concert dvd....I LOVE the setlist and all the theatrics of Alice and the band...but the "back of Glen Sobel" and "crowd" shots were too many and too distracting....also, it seems the camera angles and shots would shift from whoever was taking the lead in the song to either the crowd or somebody else's head....Not really fond of the daylight to night lighting either...
DO NOT get me wrong!! I love that it is an Alice Cooper concert from the Raise the Dead tour and the live cd is Fan-Freaking-TASTIC!!
I just wish an indoor/small venue/theatre shot had been shot and released where Alice could interact more closely with the fans which is what Alice does best!!

I think it's quite good. The Blu-ray is fantastic.
I also ordered the boxset version too.

Re: Live at wacken
I'm most impressed by this release, Alice always looks great on Blu-Ray (it's the way the make-up shines in HD) plus the transition from dusk to night is rather magical.
The format of the show is a lot better than when I saw it. The 'Raise The Dead' bit, although still not to my liking, is approached better than before and it's amazing what a few changes can do. The 'dark' section of the show is the stand-out part though and Welcome To My Nightmare is delivered brilliantly. It's also great to see He's Back performed on DVD at last.
I noted that Alice mentioned Lemmy from Motorhead at the end of the set. I quick search on You Tube revealed why, the poor guy sounded close to death during the 9 minutes that he managed!

It's worth the wait... you'll have it long before we get to hear the "covers" album. While Heaven Wept wrote:Mine still hasn't been dispatched.... Amazon are making a habit of this recently.

Re: Live at wacken
Got my copy Thursday and enjoyed it yesterday after getting home. Awesome set list, the band is really on and Sheryl was pretty...out there...as the Nurse-kudos to her.
Thought the sound was perfect (Thank You Tommy) and although I felt the camera work was very good, it did flip back and forth a lot and what was with all the Glenn back shots ?
Another satisfying DVD from my favorite-enjoyed this much more than THEATRE OF DEATH for sure-and looking forward to spinning the two CDs-also hearing "Revolution" and "Foxey Lady" with this powerful lineup which sadly not on the show, so at least we have them this way.

Re: Live at wacken
I haven't enjoyed a live version of Poison for a long long time. Usually it doesn't work for me at all. But the version on this live DVD is excellent. I was extremely surprised. I usually start to skip that song very soon after buying a new live album or DVD. Here they nail it.
Alice is in a very fine voice and the band is incredible plus they have made some small but satisfying changes on stage show since Raise The Dead tour first started in 2012. The show has definitely improved a lot since Live At AVO Sessions concert earlier on the same tour. Way better than Brutally Live DVD. This is one of my favorite Alice Cooper live albums/DVD's. I'm glad I was the first day buyer a month ago.
