Planet Rock's countdown of the top 20 hellraisers

Post by suziginajackson » Mon May 05, 2014 11:20 pm

Did anyone listen to the Planet Rock radio station this afternoon?

They had a run-down of the top 20 hellraisers in rock music. Alice came in at number 5!

What do people think of this decision? Is it right, or is it wrong?

For the record, the rest of the poll was:

1. Ozzy Osbourne
2. Keith Moon
3. Lemmy
4. Jim Morrison
5. Alice Cooper
6. Nikki Sixx
7. Keith Richard
8. Bon Scott
9. Joe Walsh
10. John Bonham
11. Axl Rose
12. Pete Way
13. Rick Wakeman
14. Steven Tyler
15. Ronnie James Dio
16. Bruce Dickinson
17. Zakk Wylde
18. James Hetfield
19. Paul Rodgers
20. Rick Parfitt

I'm surprised David Bowie wasn't number 1!

Dee Snider stands out as an absentee.

I'm surprised David Lee Roth isn't in there. I am also surprised Alice is rated above Nikki Sixx and Keith Richard.

This is absolute nonsense, of course. There was a television programme which did something similar. I can't think of anyone less deserving of that title than Alice, even during the worst of his addictions.

I agree. Of all the polls for Alice to feature in it has to be this load of twaddle. AC was never a 'hellraiser' in the sense that they mean; one of the main reasons why I liked him was because he wasn't a boorish, rock star 'idiot'.

If they meant a "hellraiser" in that he outraged the general populace and many community/civic groups protested his act as going against cultural norms and standards of morality the original group should surely rate highly. However, seeing as almost nobody else (Ozzy excepted) in this list would be similarily judged, this makes no sense at all.

I'm sorry, but real hellraisers don't appear on the Muppet Show.

Then again, a drinking club where Keith Moon is only VP must be considered.

???????????????????????????????? :bam:
What were they thinking here? My impression of a hellraiser is what they do offstage and can think of several names below Alice on this list that behaved more badly than he.
Also...Ronnie James Dio?
