Sought After Live Tracks

Post by wind_up_toy » Wed Feb 26, 2014 11:51 am

What live Alice tracks do you wish existed in decent mainstream format?

I think the 3 I'd like the most are:

Big Apple Dreamin
Spark In The Dark (I think this is only available on the House Of Fire 7" single)
I Am The Future

King OF The Silver Screen (complete)

Isn`t 'Spark In The Dark' available on Trashes The World?

I agree with Si, a complete King of the Silver Screen with Alice actually singing it would be cool. Hard Hearted Alice and Wish You Were Here would be nice to hear clearly as well

I don`t think there IS a version with AC singing ALL of it due to the way it was performed.

If I remember he sings the first part but not most of the rest of it.

King of the silver screen is the song I always wanted to hear.

Also, I'd be nice to hear Big Apple Dreamin' or Never Been Sold

There should be. It was played live through 1977 and 1978. Unfortunately all the versions that have surfaced have either had horrible sound quality or been cut off.
Even the famous Saginaw show recorded by King Biscuit only has a cut version.
There should be a properly recorded version somewhere in someone's vaults but whether it ever sees the light of day is a different matter.

When they performed it live AC, if I recall, only sang the very first part before the big theatrics started and he couldn`t sing it any more due to what he was doing. Dick Wagner (we believe) sang the rest while Alice mimed. Remeber back then there were no wireless mics or headsets. Kate Bush was teh first to use a headset.

Yes, but it's not available on any official CD or download release (at least that I know of). It was left off the Extended Versions CD.

Ah okay. I thought they released that one as one of those CD/DVD combos. Apparently not.

It's supposed to be on the "Legends" triple compilation.

I'm a little more new school here, abd altough i'd love to see many of his older work, the one song I wish I could hear live is Every Woman Has a Name, that was played only on part of the decent into dragontown tour.
These good little shocks must be working I’m so happy now

Si, I knew about it being played but through the recordings I always believed Dick Wagner sang the first two verses (that's the only part that was sang then it went into the Battle Hymn of the Republic portion) in '78 Davey Johnstone (?) sang it and frankly does an awful job. But what I'm getting at is Coop doesn't sing any of it I believe. He'd be too busy changing from the mobster outfit into a white tux. He does thank the audience at the end though

You are likely correct then. Can't listen at the moment and was going from memory.
I'd still like to hear a properly recorded version though!

I think i'd have to say "Blue Turk", i'd be interested to hear how they pull it off without the horns. I'd love to hear Glen B. really cutting loose on that one.

Kate Bush and the first wireless headset used live now you are talking, made believe it or not using a coat hanger! interestingly on her only tour in 1979 (when are they going to release the Hammersmith show on DVD!) she also used a standard mic as well.
Great comparisons between Kate and Alice she was so theatrical no other British female artist has come close this performance of James and the Cold Gun is sensational and that guitar solo by Brian Bath (the other guitar hero was the late great Alan Murphy) is magical http://youtu.be/jWX8hFhNpdQ
Lead guitar on Social Debris. Album on iTunes, Amazon & Spotify, title track featured on TV
