Your Favorite and Least Favorite ACG Album/ Solo

There seems to be constant discussion about whether or not ACAS and WTMN2 are good albums. Like everything else in the world, it is all a matter of opinion. I am sure this has been discussed in the past, but what is your favorite ACG album and your least favorite ACG album. What is your favorite Alice solo album and your least favorite Alice solo album. This is not an ACG vs solo Alice debate. Please explain your reasons why.

ACG-Favorite-Love It To Death

This is easily my favorite ACG album. It still maintains a bit of the raw sound you hear from the first two albums, but it is an entirely different band in terms of songwriting and playing. I know many prefer Killer or BDB, but this one is the one I most often listen to from the original band.

ACG-Least Favorite-Muscle of Love

I just don't think this one flows very well. There are a few decent tracks here like Teenage Lament '74 but I rarely listen to this one. I actually prefer PFY and Easy Action over MOL.

Solo Favorite-From the Inside

I debated with myself between this one or The Last Temptation. From the Inside, while not the most rocking Alice album, lyrically is the best thing he has ever recorded in my opinion. The concept works here and all of the songs are cleverly done.

Least Favorite-Zipper Catches Skin

I love the Special Forces and Dada albums and Flush the Fashion is okay, but I have never been able to enjoy much about this album. The songs just aren't there in my opinion. I debated between this one and ACAS.

ACG Favourite - Killer

THE benchmark record against which all their/his other albums can be measured. Everyone and everything is firing on all cylinders here. It's not just an album but an experience and still sends shivers down my spine 42 years after buying the original vinyl! Having said that it still only just pips LITD, School's Out and BDB!!

ACG Least Favourite - Muscle Of Love

It lacks the naive quirkiness of the two Zappa-years albums and badly misses the 'sturm und drang' of the Ezrin produced quartet. It's sort of just, well, there - like a bit of a calm lake. However, there are still a number of standout tracks, although 'Woman Machine' is probably the worst thing they ever recorded.

Solo Favourite - Welcome To My Nightmare

A close run thing between this, From The Inside or Brutal Planet. WTMN has an effortless majesty overarching a very giddy box of musical and lyrical tricks. Oh,I also love Along Came A Spider!

Solo Least Favourite - Trash

I loathe every one of Alice's three hair-metal albums - (I don't count Hey Stoopid because it's trying to break free of that genre) - but save a special venom for this. Yes, Poison and Bed Of Nails are good, if somewhat derivative, rockers but the whole concept is SO contrived, so Bon Jovi-lite, so lacking in Alice's trademarks strengths - his wonderful voice and witty lyrics. Beyond garbage.

Less fav - The Alice cooper show, then It'd be A Fistful (not because of sound but it sounds as an off character Alice, and I Don't like it as much as others live performances)

Group favorite: Billion Dollar Babies - absolutely classic!
Group least: Muscle of Love - amazing to follow an album that is so unique and interesting with something so flat.

Solo favorite: Dada - love the creepiness of it, much more than the sum of the parts.
Solo least: Constrictor - I despise this album and it started his sober career on the wrong foot which unfortunately continued for a few albums.

I just realized that my favorite albums of his are both followed immediately by my least favorite.

Favorite-KILLER, of course! Love all those albums, even..
Least Favorite: PRETTIES FOR YOU-has grown on me, but certainly not their best, as been pointed out for various reasons.

Solo:
Favorite: This will be tough, as there are several that are tip top, but think I will go with THE LAST TEMPTATION. After several albums that just didn't do it 100% for me, this was a great return to form,
Least Favorite: TRASH-Still love "Poison","House of Fire" and "Bed of Nails", but the rest would make a great coaster or frisbee.

Most dissapointing: He has put out a few clunkers in the solo years, but nothing like THE ALICE COOPER SHOW. Could hardly wait to put this on and SO let down after it was over. Pointed out various reasons why, but would probably buy a copy if it was the complete show with no editing, which was not really possible in the vinyl age.

I'm only 26, and I've been a big fan since my childhood, but Alice Cooper was always a solo artist for me, so I prefer the solo albums. I love all of the ACG albums, but the solo (specially the sober) Alice character is my favourite. I think my favourite ACG album is Love it to Death. It's the craziest of the early albums. It's almost as crazy as Welcome to my Nightmare. The least favourite is Pretties for You, but the least favourite ACG track is Under my wheels.

My favourite solo album is The Last Temptation.
The least favourite solo album is Lace&Whiskey. It's the only Alice Cooper album, what haven't listened to from the beginning to the end.
