Rock Meets Classic tour 2014
As most of you are aware, Alice has been confirmed as the headling artist for the 2014 Rock Meets Classic tour.
I THINK that Alice will be performing 5 songs plus a finale but those details are still being worked out. There are other artists and Alice is the headliner. It's all one show, with various artists coming on stage to perform their songs with the core Mat Sinner band and the Bohemian Prague Symphony Orchestra. Orianthi is doing the tour as well with Alice, though that's about the only similarity between Alice's regular tours and this tour. We haven't even talked about what songs he will be doing, but I'm assuming it'll be the obvious classics that would work well with an orchestra.
Alice will not be doing any "theatrics" to speak of, maybe some hand props and perhaps a sword of money if he does Billion Dollar Babies. Lots of time to figure that out. Just wanted to let you all know what was up. Should be a fun tour regardless.
Not sure if we will be offering any sort of VIP package for the tour, but my gut says no.
Alice IS planning on other 2014 tour dates as per usual. Hope to see you all out there!

Nice! I loved it when Deep Purple did the classical shows. This should be interesting.

Re: Rock Meets Classic tour 2014
Thanks for the details Kyler! I was discussing this with a friend who's been to several of these shows, making "bets" on which five songs would be chosen. It's different and a bit short for us fans. But having seen videos from other Rock meets Classic shows it should be fun.
I'm sure to go to the Swiss show, I'll see if I'll do more as I have family in Germany and good friends in Strasbourg. But to be honest I'd rather "save" my holidays for a full blown tour, if I can make them coincide again.

I just ordered tickets for Mannheim
I´m very curious about it, the audience will be very different from a usual show. Will we see Alice or the Coop? Which songs will he perform?
I hope there will be at least one of the songs we never get to hear live otherwise.
Might as well be on Mars would be perfect for the orchestra and for the "mixed" audience

It's interesting to think of the the songs that would work well. I reckon Ballad of Dwight Fry could be stunning and among the numerous possibilities off Welcome To My Nightmare Steven would be mighty impressive.
Although the majority will probably have to be the ones that general music fans would be aware of, it would be good to see the likes of Gutter Cat Vs The Jets or We're All Crazy get a look in.
On the 'it could work but will never happen list' are songs like I Might As Well Be On Mars and Stolen Prayer.

Won't everyone be surprised when he ends up doing covers? ;-)
(No, I have no idea what he'll perform, either.)

Re: Rock Meets Classic tour 2014
At other such shows artists have played mostly their big classics, as you say it's so non fans can recognise the tunes. And according to my friend they always close with a big jam session on the main artist's big hit. My money for this is on School's Out of course.
Not a big Kim Wilde fan but I am often pleasantly surprised in such cases.
Indeed some shows are already on sale! Not the Zurich one though and no info about when.
The Strasbourg Zénith says 8 of August but that's today and there is nothing. Hm...
Does anyone know if tickets will also sell through the official website at some point?

Actually, I heard he's doing "Dark Side of the Moon" in it's entirety.SickThings wrote:Won't everyone be surprised when he ends up doing covers? ;-)

But you didn't hear it from me.

I have no interest in this tour. I skip this one. If there's a cd I will buy it but a tour no thanks.

That's what Sick Days are for, You Sick Thing!
Have a good time!
This sounds kind of interesting..of course, the well known material will be presented, but also agree that "Steven" or "Welcome To My Nightmare" would sound great with an orchestra. Would KILL to hear "Grand Finale" in there somewhere or even "Blue Turk"

Re: Rock Meets Classic tour 2014
OK. Strasbourg was expensive but not unexpectedly so..
Zurich on the other hand... 400.- ($ or CHF same thing) for the front seats!
And the next best seats are still 150.- The cheapest crap seats are almost the same price as the better ones in Strasbourg!
Sigh, I am hesitating to spend so much on a show that will be nice but not "just" Alice.
