I think Blue Turk is an amazing song! So jazzyish and so good there are some real nice jazz riffs with that long solo. Does anyone know who plays throughout that cause its some nice work!

A song that blows me away.

I messaged Dennis Dunaway about that song. It's a masterpiece on everyone's part. Alice's vocals were breath taking, the guitars and bass were so well synchronized...it's just an amazing song. DD told me that that was the first song he used his Roto Sound strings and had some fret rattle on it. I told him I thought that the rattle added to the song and made it give a really "live" sound...

I saw an interview with the late great glen buxton and I paraphrase,they let him go crazy on the solo. there was a lot of artistic freedom on that track...so glen had a big hand on that one!

To me Blue Turk always sounded "Doors" inspired. I can really hear Jim Morrison singing this as well. If her were not dead

fantastic song....and probably the most filthy lyrics ever. I always felt that Trash, the album, missed on the "proper" approach to Alice's sexuality both lyrically and musically (blame on Desmond, not Alice)

Blue Turk is a great display of sleaze and suggestion without being blatant.....which is, to me, the "proper" way. The musicianship is just beautiful.

If I heard this song LIVE, I would faint....truly.

Blue Turk is one of those tracks I always play to non-Alice fans .....It's never failed ...EVER !!........I think it's that bloody trombone solo - possibly the highlight of a track full of highlights .

Yes! Exactly I think it is the trombone solo! It's just long for an Alice track which makes it very interesting. At like 3:51 it's like an epic conclusion to that riff and its so powerful. I wonder what Trash would have sounded like if Ezrin directed it...

I like it so much it almost was my "handle" when deciding to join this site. Instead I stepped back and chose something from "Killer"

An amazing song. Really unlike anything else in the entire catalog.

And yes, it's quite dirty.

A masterpiece! Great playing by everyone, especially those awesome bass runs by DD, the epic solo by GB and always loved the way the horns weave in and out.
Also, as pointed out, a fairly dirty song, but in a good way and you can put "Working up a Sweat" and "Muscle of Love" in there too!

...I used to DJ in a nightclub in Liverpool, UK, during the '90's, and as the club was gradually filling up with customers, I used to quite often play Blue Turk.the Club ( the "Casablanca") was a Somalian owned business, and used to cater for a mainly "black" clientele, plus many students studying in the city, and various other ethnic minorities...It was truly the world in one nightclub...the atmosphere was always incredible, a really great place to come for a night out...quite often, I would be asked who the artist was as it played, and almost nobody ever believed me when I told them.R.I.P The casa

Again (and not to revive the recent discussion) that isn't practical. If it was performed in some small, smoke - filled jazz club somewhere at three in the morning, it would work, but at a regular or big outdoor show, then, no, it would not.
