It isn't their project so there's no reason why they would.
I am sure Alice and Co. are approached with ideas like this all the time. And he has shown that he has some interest in this particular one... agreeing to be involved as paid talent. It just seemed interesting that there was no original investment put forth past the promise to "talent". (Assuming what the originators have said is true) Obviously, if the people running this idea/project can get it off the ground, on their own, and it appears to have legs, Alice/management could step in at a later date to take control (buy out). However, I would think a little financial investment up-front, would show more faith in the idea by the guy whose name would be out-front. Just my opinion....since I don't know the entire story of this project and what kind of interest and faith Alice has in this project going forward.

Yes.

No, that isn't obvious at all.

Not necessarily.

In what way were you "deceived"??

i try to explain with my weak english words.
it was a very complete project; humour, fear, and Alice's perfect songs.....and the words "uncle alice" that sounds great even for foreign ears...
the comic book, yet sketched with talent...

Okay, so nothing to do with being "deceived".
danielleV wrote:
i still dont understand why it was planned to be funded only by subscription ..
It's the current big thing. The problem with this one was
a) the perception that its was Alice's own project (it was not) as I can forsee "Alice Cooper project fails" headlines which isn`t really a good thing. espcially so soon afetr the "Alice Cooper Horror Cruise canceled" ones.
b) I personally think the amount they were hoping to raise was very high. It might well be the amount they need, but to expect to get that amount in a relatively short space of time, in the current finantial climate, was optomistic. Maybe they should have tried or a one off comic and take it from there in stages.

oh..
so "deceived" was a wrong word,
i meant, in french,
"Déçue que le projet n'aie pas vu le jour"

you are right Si
The time to raise all this money was very short.
maybe a year would have been good, sincerely, i am sure it would have worked; we made advert for it on facebook, etc, ...

Google translates that as "Disappointed" which makes more sense.

Shame this project didn't make the 200k it needed, but in the tough world of business, creative people often get their business model wrong.

Personally I'm not that interested in the comic book stuff, but liked the match up of music and video, hindsight is a wonderful thing but if only he asked for 50k and scaled down the project a bit, but you've got to admire Tom Sheppard as a creative person and I'm sure he will go on to more successful projects.

If you look at some other projects that have been funded for similar money, it is quite disappointing that only 385 people actually contributed.

That's literally next to nothing considering how many people attend Alice shows and purchase the albums.

That is true. But as I said I DO think a lot of that is down to the economy. Money is money.
I wonder, if it was a new Alice Cooper album whether it would have reached teh target.

It sure is financial constraints and tough times are still ahead. I would have loved to have pledged and been part of it, but at the moment I got to cut my cloth to suit. :(

I'm sorry to say that this just didn't grab me at all and is the reason I didn't 'invest'. Fair play to everyone who tried to get this off the ground though and to Alice himself for putting his neck on the line. I hope no-one incurrs any undue financial loss too. Maybe this will still get of the ground in some way!

I'm hoping that this leaves Alice more time to work on new music.

Man, that really sucks that it isn't gonna happen. :/ But I agree with wind-up-toy, I hope this gives him time to work on new music.

I don't see anywhere where it was stated that work on this project would have impacted Alice's ability to record or do anything else for that matter. After all, this was a Dark Matter project and was largely going to be work done by Dark Matter at least in the early going.

It's disappointing that a true die hard Alice fan wouldn't support a high profile Alice project just because "it didn't grab them". Even just $20 which is next to nothing these days. It does speak a bit about the state of the fan base, in my opinion.

What does it say? does it say we are broke?
If $20.00 doesn't matter to you, could you please send it to me as si has been in and out of the hospital for 8 weeks and i'm now worried of how we are going to pay the bills. Any one else have a "extra"money.. feel free to send it our way..

I never said $20 doesn't matter, I said $20 is next to nothing these days. You can't even go out to dinner and not drop at least twice that anymore. My comment was not directed at people that can't afford it.

It was more at people like the prior poster who by all appearances is a hard core Alice fan, yet didn't support this project because "it didn't grab him".

To be honest, I'm not a comic book fan at all, but you didn't have to be to find something of interest in the items being offered for various levels of bidding. You could bid on something and get a cool item back and support an Alice related project at the same time. Everyone wins. Beyond that, there's no reason to think that now that this project failed, Alice is going to get into the recording studio one second sooner than he otherwise would have.

That's all I meant. I realize not everybody is in the same financial situation and those that can't afford it, shouldn't spend their money on these types of things.

Sorry to hear of your financial problems and hope Si is doing better.
