Question for Si really.....
...are there any plans for getting STUK newsfeed into facebook?
Re: Question for Si really.....
Already on there.
It comes through on the SickthingsUK facebook group.

Re: Question for Si really.....
Hey Si, what about a Iphone or Droid APP...?
Re: Question for Si really.....
(Hope Si doesn't mind me stepping in on this) A SickthingsUK app would be wonderful, but I believe, at least for iOS products that it costs $99.00 to have an app in the iTunes store. A more reasonable approach would be to have a mobile version of the site, but that might be time consuming considering the enormous wealth of information available (unless it had the basics on it and everything else linked to the main site.)
My suggestion to mobile users is either to have SickthingsUK bookmarked in your browser and saved as an easily accessible iPhone/Android shortcut icon, or get an RSS Reader App (if they exist) and add the SickthingsUK newsfeed to it.

Re: Question for Si really.....
The forum does have soe sort of addon installed for using on mobiles. There is also a friend possibly working on something along those lines.
I'm afraid it's all rather beyond me tehnically and if I really NEED to look at the site on my phone I can do it now easily without any need for a special "app" o I'm still not really convinced it's even an issue.

For those of you who don't know it already, for several years now, the news posted on STUK has also been automatically posted on my SickThings2 announcement list, as well as the sickthings-yh Yahoo! list.
To subscribe to my list and get the updates via email, look near the bottom of my SickThings2 page:

There's also the facebook page where everything is posted to, and you can access the rss feed directly on any newfeed software

Re: Question for Si really.....
Si has configured this forum to use "Tapatalk" on smartphones.
It makes reading and responding on the forum much easier/quicker than trying to manage it with a phone browser. It's free to install on the forum itself and cost the users a buck or two to install the app on their phone.
There are several forums I read that that use it and compared to the forums I read that don't, it's much more convenient.
I'm not sure there's a need for a dedicated app or mobile version for non-forum site content. To go to those lengths, I'm guessing you'd have to have considerable site traffic to justify.

Re: Question for Si really.....
Apologies, I looked, not in groups, but in pages and found a 'Alice Cooper's SickThings' page that didn't look like it filtered current news. Thanks Si.Si wrote:Already on there.

Re: Question for Si really.....
Was already aware of the announcement lists (of which I am a member), and knew about RSS feeds; I just wondered about facebook that's all as it's nice to have a central location for stuff like this.
Re: Question for Si really.....
The "central location" is the news page haha
Re: Question for Si really.....
No, I think you misunderstand;I meant a central location for stuff like this for ME. It's nice to have one newsfeed page with all items of interest to me filtering through rather looking in my email as well for sickthings news etc.Si wrote:The "central location" is the news page haha
Thanks Si, it's great now.
Re: Question for Si really.....
..I tend to only come here for discussion to be honest..oh, and maybe to check up some historical facts from the largest source of AC information on the net.
I like to see the news in my newsfeed.
Just want to say 'Great site and AC work in general Si, you have maintained this over the years with incredible consistency and stamina that is very much appreciated and respected. It is the best Alice Cooper website in the world of course!'

Re: Question for Si really.....
As technology proceeds, special versions of web pages for smartphones and the like won't be needed anymore in the near future, so in my opinion no more action is needed to get the information provided by the "Sickthings" page onto mobile devices.
Take a look at my Alice Cooper photo gallery at http://theblackwidow.minus.com!
