Has anyone else ever become hooked on this song? I must admit I never thought much of it for years until it came on my phone when I was out with it set to shuffle, and suddenly I absolutely love it. It's in my head all day, and I listen to it on repeat for long stretches at a time. I've heard of songs growing on you before but this has taken 8 or 9 years and now it's an obsession!

I had really forgotten all about this song, and it sounds better than when I first heard it. Marvellous, thanks for that.

I've always thought that if you took the best songs from "Lace And Whiskey" and the best songs from "Alice Cooper Goes To Hell", you'd have a terrific album. Maybe, someday, I'll try and come up with a track sequence--but "My God" would most likely be the album closer.

Goes To Hell is a terrific album as it is.

I love this song - very powerful musically and lyrically!

I like the album actually, I think it is a little underrated.

"And fear is stabbing me all over, a tiny prayer cracks the dark with light".
A brilliant set of lyrics to one of Alice's most overlooked songs. Great great song- thanks for bringing it up in your post topic.

I've always had a soft spot for this song. Even though i'm not religious at all, it's very uplifting.

The whole album is a mish-mash. Different styles of music, some great songs (My God is one of them) and some tripe IMO.

I really love most of the songs from this album. The production sucks but the songs are great. My God is the best imo.

Hmmm, yeah, think I know what you mean. I have always thought it sounds too 'ambient'(although that works with My God ironically enough) as I do with 'Goes to Hell' - not sure what Bob was thinking of with those albums but the warmer/dryer sound on say, FTI (David Foster) works better. I think this spoils those two albums to a degree - particularly L&W as the title track, Road Rats etc would sound much better otherwise. Cooper sounds like he's in a bathroom throughout these records!!!!

Also, whilst on a bit of a grumble, what was his management thinking allowing an obviously 'out of focus' Alice to put out such 'easy listening' stuff (with titles like 'I never wrote those songs') at a time KISS were taking over the world using the space left by Alice who at the time was singing about regretting his songs, talking about writing crooney things for Sinatra, doing 'disco' and rock and roll!!!????? Was that really good marketing at the time?????

I think if phil spector ever produced alice,it would sound like "goes to hell" and "lace and whiskey". I hear wall of sound on these discs!

It is very easy to think one knows what the right thing to do was when one has the benefit of hindsight, which others did not have.

Never really got into L&W record...doesn't speak to me like both the predecessor and the following FTI (Alice's best).
But You & Me and MY God are excellent emotional songs
