Interesting but quite expensive. Looks like he tried signing Alice Cooper first only to cross it out then signed as his legal name at the time. Which has to be quite rare.

Did He ever sign as Vince or was it always Alice.

Yes, if it was before this event (if it was an official or legal document).

He has also been known on VERY rare occasions, to sign as Vincent more recently. For example I've seen a GB memorial book signed Furnier, probably at the request of the owner. I believe Renfield also auction a couple of Furnier signed items at one point. Those were signed like taht due to their relationship to that name.

Vincent Damon Furnier.

That was him being thoughtful since you are from France, but to clarify my earlier post, I think homerx was referring to signatures before Alice changed his name, unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah Before he changed the name.

I do wonder how many knew his reall name at the time. Doesn't seem like any of the albums listed him as Vince but rather Alice.

It wasn't revealed until 1973, I think.

They definitely did not. There was no reason to.

True, however there are a couple of examples of "Furnier" being credited for songwriting (in error maybe) on early singles are there not? Sure I remember seeing at least one (may even have it somewhere)

Yes but homerx asked about albums.

This has probably been discussed before, but the timing is certainly interesting.

Was this move made to enhance Alice's chances of launching a solo career with the name?

He was protecting his own interests (which, obviously, he is allowed to do).

I saw Alice signing stuff as "Vincent Damon Furnier" quite a few times, especially when he was presented with real old stuff originating from the time before the band started calling themselves "Alice Cooper".
Take a look at my Alice Cooper photo gallery at http://theblackwidow.minus.com!
